I understand this issue since my dr refuses to refill my pain meds due to influence by insurance company. My quality of life is suffering but I push on because I have to.

We who suffer from fibromyalgia and other chronic, invisible pain conditions desperately need understanding! We live with pain each and every day of our lives. Please make sure that patients with chronic pain have the right to adequate pain management, it’s important it can improve our quality of life! We deserve to be treated fairly! Thank you!

Hi Sherry, just read your comment and can relate so much. You explained the way I feel everyday.I felt alone with this because no believes fibromyalgia is even a condition. Some doctors have said I have it but then some don't.The doctors won't give me anything for pain. The over the counter meds do nothing but hurt my stomach.I am at my wits end with this.I am 61 and hate everyday that I wake.Nothing is important or worth this and to think I will only get worse till the end is no comfort.I hope that something changes for us soon.Kathy

Sad that there are many in health care that view most who use opiate pain meds legitimately as less than honorable. I have personally seen fellow nurses dismiss a patients pain as THEY did not believe the patients report to be "accurate". Its not up to Nurses, Pharmacy employees to determine. It is between the PATIENT and the Hopefully treating appropriately physician. DEFINITELY not up to a NON MEDICALLY TRAINED elected "official" to determine appropriate treatment for a foot fungus let...

DEFINITELY not up to a NON MEDICALLY TRAINED elected "official" to determine appropriate treatment for a foot fungus let alone PAIN. Not up to the think they know everything masses either. Keep to what they are TRAINED for. We don't see politicians or strangers questioning and passing laws against CHEMO TREATMENTS!

17 years of standing by my husbands struggle and I know exactly what you mean. There are too many cooks in this soup, too many dead ends and there is just so much that the govt needs to keep the hell out of. Even the smartest of people dont know EVERYTHING. Sorry that there are so many that struggle. Those of us who are "healthy" there are some of us that stand with you and fight or your cause, that I think is important for those who are struggling with this or any illness to know. There...

There are people with chronic pain who do abuse the pain meds. They have become addicted and build up a tolerence to the drugs. I have seen this first hand. A dear friend would go to the doctor where he would receive patches to dispense on pain med as well as a prescription for 120 vicodin that should have lasted 30 days. In ten days time he was out of vicodin. Then you have those who take pain medicine when they stump their big toe. It is these individuals who are the root of the...

It is these individuals who are the root of the problem and not the heath care professionals nor the insurance companies. They make it hard for those of us who need the meds and used them responsibly.

Two husbands, two sisters, one brother, one best friend have suffered from chronic pain for over a decade. It is only been since the 1900's opiates were even regulated. It's all about the bottom line..$$$ and legislating other's morals. Pharmaceutical companies, FDA, DEA all know what's best for us now!
