Minda, I agree with you completely! I for one only get good sun in my front yard. Back yard has large old oaks that cost a small fortune to have removed. So.......... front yard it is.

¡ Todo ahora parece estar alrevés! Es rídiculo que pretendan tal cosa, en lugar de fomentarla.

Didn't a couple in Canada (Montreal?) just go through this about 6 months ago? There was a huge petition response and in the end, the municipal gov. ended up changing the ordinance and hiring the couple to help establish a new policy ALLOWING front yard gardens? Why do we have to keep visitng the same stupid stuff over and over? What is it with people? I think a pretty, well tended vegetable garden is quite lovely, and an addition to any neighborhood! Not to mention exactly what...

Not to mention exactly what Michelle Obama is trying to promote - more fresh vegetables in our crappy national diet!

I have to give our First Lady lots of credit for her cause in
promoting a healthy diet of fruits and veggies.
I've been a vegetarian since 1984 and we can get our
protein, vitamins, minerals, and fiber from plant-based sources
such as beans, spinach, kale, broccoli, blueberries and other fruits, nuts, etc.,
and reject animal meat altogether. :)

McMinnville is full of front and side yard gardens. They don't stand out any more than flowers and are very pretty. When you walk around so that you can see all the things growing they're quite inspiring. I do think if people have front yard gardens they should look nice. But I have neighbors with roses and such in their front yard who park on their grass like it's a ghetto and snarly weeds are all over - I'd rather have a pretty garden!

Please see this beautiful property in Québec that was allowed to keep their front yard garden.

crazy, all over europe people grow food in any space they have available. I don't know why more people don't do it!

when i started a garden in my front yard, flowers, fruit and veges, i had neighbors come and say, "what are you doing"? in a tone that suggested i was ruining the neighborhood. now, most of them have followed suit, except for fruit and veges!

Totally ridiculous law. Any effort to grow food and feed people should be supported. It is both ethically and environmentally the right thing to do.

It should be allowed!

I guess they will ban citrus trees next.

This is a real cool solution, 4 natural fruits & veggies, also grate 4 the enviornment!

Productive garden always beats water guzzling, boring grass. Here in NZ, our schools have vege gardens, our community has a community garden and out in our garden veges are growing.
