I have no problems with ANYONE. I enjoy meeting new people of ALL walks of life. I am interested in them as a person and learn a great deal from their experiences. I try to make it a rule to talk to others, no matter where I am. I ask questions in a genuine manner because I DO care. I have much experience, strength, and hope to share as well. I try not to judge as I do not like being judged. We are all in this together. xxxooo
Deb, thank you so much for your support! Talking to people and asking questions is a great tradition to have. Be sure to come back and share your story about this week with us!
Last year, I worked with homeless youth in Chicago. I met a young man who became homeless with his mother and younger sibling. Because many family shelters do not accept boys over 12 years old with their families, they had to go to an adult shelter to stay together, where they encountered dangerous situations and attempted predators. As a young teen he told his mom and younger sibling to go to a family shelter where they could be safe. He then started sleeping on the train for years while...

As a young teen he told his mom and younger sibling to go to a family shelter where they could be safe. He then started sleeping on the train for years while also battling severe bipolar disorder, left untreated. He found our social services and now is living independently in his own apartment.

Thank you for those encouraging words, Lena! It is hard sometimes, but yes, things do get better! Thank you for your support with our pledge and passing it on.
Seriously, have been there! Slept in storage building for two nights , another time in my life, lived without power and some food , lived off fresh chicken eggs and flour, water carried from convenient stores, no car, etc. Strong willed people! WOW Makes me cry then sometimes makes me jealous , if that makes sense. Life is simple and also you know people love and care a whole lot. Make it a positive thing! I DID!
Thanks for sharing some of your story with us, Rita! And for taking our pledge and passing it on. We look forward to hearing more about your experiences this week.

I will try to find a person, although, it's awkward for a woman to approach a man and not have a little fear, it's also been really cold and they might have a hard time being out this time of year...
Maria, we understand the fear and awkwardness this may bring. Only do what feels right to you. Thank you for taking our pledge though and we hope to read about your story later this week.
