People don't realise that it is illegal to set off fireworks onb any day except November 5th and December 31st unless you have permission from the council which means you have to inform neighbours with dogs, children or pensioners. Report offenders to the council or the police.

Sadly Pamela, I don't think this is the case if the fireworks are to be let off on private land, ie the back garden.

I was told this by our PCSO

Unfortunately the police don't want to know neither do the council. Have tried this before when we lost a horse due to a stupid neighbour who let off professional fireworks over our yard even though I begged him not to. No one to turn to over this. Mob rule.

No point writing to Parish Council you need to write to the Environmental Health Department of the District Council.

totally agree they are dangerous in the wrong hands and my family is unfortunately one the the families that know this my nan Mary Fox was killed by a firework being put through her letter box 3 years ago. I think a legal displays are amazing but everytime I hear fireworks I am brought back to that night.

Wholeheartedly agree! The ones they sell to the public now are too big. They are louder and rattle windows. X

natalie, thats terrible, and any thinking responsible adult will see thecase you make, unfortunately, most are self obsessed morons who shoud not be in charge of a 20 year old, defunct catherine wheel, and yet they are let free with pretty lethal explosives, how many of em even know who guy fawkes was?? like i say, idiots

fireworks should be restricted to organised displays only well away from any domestic properties or banned altogether. They are a nuisance, disruptive, extremely dangerous and a waste of public resource money ie fire brigade, ambulance, hospital service. If I had other explosives other than fireworks I would be arrested, fireworks are explosives and highly dangerous and should NOT be allowed to be sold to the public.

Our Skye....like the majority of pets....is Terrified of them from weeks before Halloween and weeks after Nov.5th! Also the Old Folk are terrorised by young people with them! Any sane person can see the point of having them banned from general sale! BAN THEM FROM GENERAL SALE & ONLY HAVE OFFICIAL DISPLAYS!

Abi-dog doesnt even blink! But poor Rodney is beside himself every time he hears them such a shame. The vet said to get a cd of firework noises and play it fairly regularly between now and next year...might give it a go!

Fireworks are beautiful and I really enjoy the big displays. I don't enjoy idiots letting off fireworks just for the fun of it and frightening poor innocent animals.

definitely. you wouldn't believe the trouble they have caused in our house over the last 10 years! The screaming and terror they have brought, it's been like living in a war zone for a month each year all because idiots let them off randomly throughout the night and I have a child who can't handle the unexpected noises! the dogs aren't keen either.
