People don't realise that it is illegal to set off fireworks onb any day except November 5th and December 31st unless you have permission from the council which means you have to inform neighbours with dogs, children or pensioners. Report offenders to the council or the police.

Sadly Pamela, I don't think this is the case if the fireworks are to be let off on private land, ie the back garden.

Unfortunately the police don't want to know neither do the council. Have tried this before when we lost a horse due to a stupid neighbour who let off professional fireworks over our yard even though I begged him not to. No one to turn to over this. Mob rule.

No point writing to Parish Council you need to write to the Environmental Health Department of the District Council.

My dogs are so afraid of the frieworks that my neighbors shoots off days and weeks before the 4th of July, that they won't even go outside to do their potty business. Fireworks should be banned from those not experienced in setting them off properly. Too many injuries and death associated with young children shooting them off.

NO member of the public should be able to buy Fireworks, & if there MUST be a firework night it should only be an organised display, but even then some of these are held close enough to houses to terrify both people & pets. I heard one off in the distance at Braehead on SAT night & it was like being in the blitz! I wouldn't like to have been living near that one! And there WERE houses closer to it than I was! The fireworks were very big fancy ones u could see from the motorway so the problem...

I don't see the point. In fact meant to Tweet the Prime Minister about it tonight! Maybe everyone should also do that?

Had a firework thrown in front of the car tonight in East Kilbride. Probably sounding like an old fart here but definitely better to have organised displays. Enough already!
