This is a great idea. I'm in.
We need to be grateful to the service workers here in America, in France they include tips for the waitstaff in the price of food/drink so it's in the bill, and they do the minimum amount of work and know they don't have to do anything extra for you, they are getting paid. Even the poor waitstaff are doing their jobs, so give 20% or don't eat out, really simple. I can't wait to do something extra this holiday season for everyone who serves me.
The world would really be a better place with more Caring, Appreciative action! Remember that we are all connected, and your attitude and actions really do have ripple effects. Thank you Freeman!
I've always appreciated the service folks, I've done my time in retail (fast food, desk clerk, bookstore) and now I'm a teacher. I try to say nice things as often as possible, and tip well. However, I also reserve the right to call out/comment on poor service workers. They're out there and they unfairly tar the whole group. If it's poor service, I don't just leave a lesser tip, I leave a note on the bill. If it's in a store, I shop elsewhere. This works both ways.
Being "the girl in the drive thru" for over 3 years, I know better than to ever be disrespectful to them.
Few parents teach their kids respect anymore. That is what it all boils down to. Respect yourself and others. We are all in this strange thing called LIFE together. We can make it good or bad. You make a choice.....
Wow what a thought..Hilda thank you for sharing it ..i feel same..yesterday(22 nov 2012) I've been to our head office and there in absence of Chairperson ,his subordinate misbehaved with me and i was feeling like helpless and cried/weeped ..but at last i shut him up of his rude and unaccepted behavior with a female very junior colleague(me,Renuka Singh)..LIFE gives us lesson and demon male like Ranjit pal dont deserve respct from a girl like me,u and so many others who need help but dont/cant express themselves!
Our mantra is: "Don't do to others that which you don't want done to you"!
God Bless All Those Involved.
I worked in customer service for years and and totally empathize with those who still do. people are getting grouchy these days and it just seems to keep getting worse. It's a ME, ME, ME, world we seem to be living in here in the Western Hemi. I hope to all above that the Kielberger brothers manage to create some really positive change for the young folk with their "Me to WE" conferences!
I hit a wall with bartending many years ago and had to walk away... Serving the public on a daily basis is one of the most soul depleting experiences I have had... I applaud those who still must do it to keep a roof over their heads and food in their fridge for themselves, and their families
Thank you so much for starting this petition. I work in retail and do my best to give great customer service, but there are those you just can't satisfy how try to make you miserable. But it's the others that see what happened and compliment me on how I reponded despite of that the rudeness that makes my day better. So to those wonderful customers thank you for your wonderful words of encouragement. To the others may God help you to see your rudeness does not ruin my day or spirit.
That's a great attitude to have!
I try to do this every day, but is wonderful to know there has been a special significant day designated to honor the ones who keep our world going! Yes, Scydonia, ALL work is honorable!
Hmmm..love the words Selfless Saturday...what a shift they create!
