We are expecting #7 & were induced with the last 5!! Only our first started labor on her own. Some was my stupidity (we don't always know what we don't know) & wanting to be "done", but my OB is also one to say, "It is always better to go at 39wks!" & was good at convincing us not to go too far past our "due date" due to large babies. #4 was induced at 40wks 1 day (6#12oz), #5 40wks 2days (7#13oz), #6 40 wks 5 days (10#2oz no tears, no shoulder complications that they assured me I would...

I know better now! I wasn't dilated at all with those last 3 when induction started. I have never had an epidural, despite the Pitocin being "as high as we can get it" (the nurse said) & am just beginning to realize how blessed I have been to avoid a C-section. This time, we are working with a midwife & doula team & are very excited to give our baby the time he or she needs to be ready for this world <3

Absolutely! Although I was induced on my first, after I was two weeks late and walked around dilated to 4 without any sign of contractions! Umbilical issues ended in C-section, :-(! But my second was born Vbac, with no problems 20 1/2 months later.

The best outcomes for our babies is to enable labour to occur between 39-42 weeks. Time to stop intervening!

Dear Ol' Prof Winston et al state that human babies are born 3 months premature anyway (cranial-pelvic ratios) so our babies are the most helpless & vulnerable as newborns compared to many species.

Both of my boys were 40+ wks and they were just lovely and healthy (although they'd complain about using the word "lovely" about them now - 17 and 11!) 40 weeks "in the oven" is the recipe for a healthy baby!

42+3 was my perfect bake time :) The last weeks can be exhausting but I preferred swollen ankles to forceps ;).

I went 41wks 1d and had a perfect home birth! Would do it all over again.

My daughter was born at 40 weeks, 6 days... 17 very fast years ago.

Amazing that we need to sign a pledge to allow nature to do do what nature does, but alas it does seem like we need to promise to so here it is. I strongly believe and promote natural child birth.
