so difficulft for many women intimidated by professionals. The last birth I attend was of a lady that was told that she had to be induced because the placenta was bad! She gave birth with 41 weeks beautifully at home.

I know, Mary Zwart, I know... The psychological terrorism of a bad placenta, of the insufficient amniotic fluid, of a too big baby... Poor women...

I was told all those things except the too big of baby part, they were telling me my baby could lose weight in utero! I did lots of my own research so I called B.S. on all their pressure techniques, but the Dr's manner made the last 12 days (post date) incredibly stressful which is not what a mama needs before birth.

I've seen too too many elective inductions end up as a c-section and with babies in the NICU...ALL unnecessarily. If only they had waited. Better times are among us and nurses need to be advocates and voices for our little ones.

Lets influence our CNO & CEOs to not accept inductions and advocate on behalf of the patient to go 40 weeks!

I wish way more mamas were aware of the potential problems... although "Go the Full 40" is misleading, too many people don't realize going longer is perfectly normal.

I think all women want healthy full term babies my son went to almost 41 weeks but my daughter had to be taken early at 26 weeks or she would not be here with me now. im thankful for the technology that let the doctors save her.

As a nurse midwife....please, please, please say no to elective induction. HOW we are born, matter. Children are not convenient, but they are WORTH every minute of the rest of you life. Since you life is about to be very inconvenienced, you might as well start by letting labor happen when it will. It is not about you anymore, part of being a mother is giving of yourself, putting your needs second... or last sometimes.
