It is appallingly apathetic that this petition was started over 30 days ago and only 43 people have signed on! Isn't anyone reposting this? Come on! Just what heinous tragedy has to occur before people will start worrying more about the devastating ecological threats being jammed down our throats than being "politically correct" with the people in our lives!

"All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men [and women] to do nothing." Edmund Burke.

Donna.....Too many people are not familiar with fracking, which is probably the reason for the low amount of signatures. I live in PA, where they allowed it without putting strict regulations in place first--and now the problems are beginning to surface. It all comes down to $$....Yes, people need work and money--but at what cost?

I understand what is happening, people are waking up and realizing the scam the EPA and the liberals are running to get their name in the headlines and making things up. If Obama and the democrat liberals would stop interfering with any use of America's natural resources that are plentiful then fracking would be a total last resort and would probably never happen because if we used the readily available oil in the country, that would save the economy long enough to get a real alternative to...

If Obama and the democrat liberals would stop interfering with any use of America's natural resources that are plentiful then fracking would be a total last resort and would probably never happen because if we used the readily available oil in the country, that would save the economy long enough to get a real alternative to fossil fuels instead of wasting our entire future and trillions of dollars to reward the democrat donor companies with their hopeless strategy which are going bankrupt daily at we and our ancestors expense for the next 2 or 3 generations. As far as the pollution from fracking, if the EPA can't find enough to warrant shutting every thing down then they will pump it into the area all the while they are experimenting on human guinea pigs(of course the media neglected to report on them), to prove the particles and gases in the atmosphere are making people sick.

I and many others have been protesting about this for months...months. There have been hearings and all sorts of petitions about this that many have signed. Do you support any environmental groups? Riverkeeper? Clearwater? Greenpeace? These groups have sent out petitions. I have FBooked the governor a number of times about this and my state senators. Many are protesting this. Glad you finally found out.

I've tried to sign and the 'Sign the Petition' button is disabled. Neither is it working for a colleague who I posted it too. Perhaps that's the reason so few signatures.

Leaking poisons & gases are harming & killing both humans & animals alike. That means those we love, our family members friends, & even our pets (not to mention our natural environment) is being destroyed by Fracking. For these reasons I want Fracking to stop now! And I am sharing this!

I love the picture of this floor hand taking samples of the mud as it flows from the casing. Is that supposed to look like he's dumping the mud onto the ground and poisoning the land? If that's what you believe, then you're sorely misinformed. If that's what you believe, then you're sorely misinformed. Operators spend thousands of dollars in environmentally-safe chemicals (all of which you can find in various household items) keeping the fluid properties of that mud at a specific quality, so they are not going to waste a drop. It's actually flowing through a trench back to the working pits where its fluid properties are restabilized, cuttings are removed, and the mud is then pumped back through the wellbore to maintain its stability. In fact, if the salinity concentration is low enough, this mud actually serves as a better fertilizer than your store-bought brands, and it is bought and sold by the barrel to local farmers in states where the practice is allowed. If the salinity is too high then the mud is stored in a facility where they remove most of the salt and will reuse the mud in other processes on other wells. After a well is plugged and plants work their way across the initial wellpad, you will find that the plants growing near where the pits were dug are greener than any in the surrounding area.

Who doesn't like 120 dollar oil and 12-15 dollar natural gas. This guy thinks its a great idea as it keeps me gainfully employed. We have been fracturing up here in Canada now since 1965 with little to no grief. Lets not just ban fracturing in New York lets take it a step further and ban it completely in the lower 48. Drive natural resource prices up to where they should be. Who cares if everyone south of the border goes broke, this is a win win for everyone. Keeps America dependent on Canada and the Middle East for natural resources and once we start sending our resources to places like china and India it's really going to drive prices up. This way we can ensure alberta has free healthcare for generations to come. So do us a favor and ban it completely. Please!!!!

fraccing northern alberta is worlds different than fraccing in a populated area Rocky,

How do you explain the Medicine Hat deal? Been fraccing down there right in town now for about 40 years. Or the big fracs that take place out in Priddis and brag creek? Pretty much right in the city of Calgary. Or out in Enoch on the reserve within Edmonton city limits.... Those are fairy big cities and you don't hear about anything ba happening. Keep in mind as well that gas fraccing in Medicine Hat happens at about 700 vertical meters (2100ft). A lot less separating the water table in southern alberta than in New York, PA and West Virginia.

you understand what it means when i talk about population density right? new york state is nothing like either northern or southern alberta.

Rocky Juneau
Rocky Juneau

I have done hydraulic fracture treatments at as little as 400m. There have been 3 proven cases in alberta that CBM fracturing has contaminated ground water. But your essentially forcing a gas into the ground at high rates and pressure. One of those was linked to bad cement, and 2 if those were because of fracture operations at 100m below surface. 300 feet. Botom of the water table was at 65m. Surface casing was set at around 82m. That's cuttin it to close for comfort.

I know exactly what you mean when you say population density, it is crazy out there. However if fracturing is in fact causing groundwater contamination then they need to look at regulations, not bans. Regulate the industry like Canada. I know it's hard for a lot of Americans to grasp that the Canadian oilpatch is light years ahead of the US they should be in fact taking notes and learning.

This Fracking GREED is indefensible. When all the drinkable water on earth is gone, all life is gone with it. Then no amount of $$ will be able to save ourselves, because it will be too late. What we do to the planet, we ultimately do to ourselves. Water will always be more precious than OIL and GAS so let's stop the insanity and put PEOPLE and the planet before GREED, the deadliest sin of all.
