I will not give up my guns or the right to carry (I have a carry permit) ever and I hope none of you will give up on the second amendment right.

Do you need a machine pistol to defend yourself (MAC-10) or a SPAS (short shotgun)? If passed this would have no consequence to the typical citizen or sportsman. But what it would do is reduce the availability of assault weapons...the weapons used to kill our children, or neighbors and yes possibly you.

@Austin Brunicardii the 2nd amendment reads "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." No one is halting nor infringing upon your right to bear arms, it is a restriction on the type of weapon they could not have imagined back in 1791 when the 2nd was passed. **And thank you for your service**

Thank you for your service. You're obviously not a complete believer, supporter, defender of The Constitution at this present time. Anyone that attacks The Constitution is your sworn enemy,...even if he or she is instrumental with the flow of your paycheck. Thank you for your service. You're obviously not a complete believer, supporter, defender of The Constitution at this present time. Anyone that attacks The Constitution is your sworn enemy,...even if he or she is instrumental with the flow of your paycheck. It's not up to the federal government or any government or any worldwide coalition to arbitrarily decide what type of arms, how many rounds they'll hold, etc., It is up to We The People to restrict those who can legally do anything and it's already been done with regard to firearms, i.e., criminals cannot use a firearm during the committal of a crime, convicted felons can't have firearms, it is the responsibility of the gun owner to keep his or her firearm out of the hands of unsupervised children, the criminally insane, a bi-polar drug addict son, etc., These are already laws that We The People wrote and voted into existence that are not being enforced. The 2nd Amendment is also about We The People not being "outgunned" or otherwise defenseless by and to the government. The Constitution is NOT an instrument for the government to control The People, The Constitution IS an instrument for The People to control the government (-Patrick Henry). By displaying the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor you cause me to presume you are an active duty Marine. If yes, I reiterate Thank You for Your Service and Semper Fi. Think back on 10 November 1775. Tun Tavern was on the bottom floor of that building. Do you know what was on the second floor? There was a meeting on the second floor of that building where there was a discussion about United States Ships being attacked by pirates and foreign soldiery, and that something must be done. The meeting was adjourned and as you know something was done. Captain Samuel Nicolas, Captain Robert Mullins, and Sergeant Major Bestwick, to name a few, met in Tun Tavern on the first deck of that building. They drank rum and they founded our beloved Corps. Volunteers joined and brought with them their own personal (in most cases) firearms and boarded those ships as security...and whoa what a beautiful creation has evolved ever since. The United States of America, intended to be rare and unique in and of Herself. She still is. The 2nd Amendment is one very important reason She and we are. Admiral Yamamoto was correct when he said it would a terrible idea for Japan, or any foreign soldiery to invade The United States within Her borders because "there would be a rifle behind every blade of grass". Sir, I respect you and I respect those generations and forefathers similar to you. I would like to think that we could meet and discuss this topic with vigor, but not anger, while having a few of the daily grog. We could meet as gentlemen, shake hands and discuss our own opinions with regard to this subject, or any. After the conclusion of our meeting we can part, still entitled to our own opinion...because no one is trying to take that away, yet. God Bless and Semper Fi!

Then we need to pray that they stop the signing that will allow the U.N. regulation of U.S. citizens fire arms and this means all fire arms, rifle, shotgun, and pistol - write to your congressman and not just sign a petition.

Constantly stating something is a lie doesn't make it so. Even if enough liberals believe it when Obama says the sky is purple, the sky is in fact not purple. Do some research.

The fact that the UN treaty says nothing about USA gun laws and we pushed for that language to be included is besides the point. The US constitution supersedes international treaties.

We cannot allow our government or any government disarm us and leave us vulnerable to attacks that would surely come if we were disarmed. We would be left defenseless. And Criminals surely wouldn't be. Imagine how much rape, robbery, murders and kidnappings would increase. And that is just to name a few. We have to stand up people! I listened to Obama's speech tonight and the way he talked is that's the direction we are headed. He said "As a country, we have been through this too many...

"Whether it is an elementary school in Newtown or a shopping mall in Oregon or a temple in Wisconsin or a movie theater in Aurora or a street corner in Chicago, these neighborhoods are our neighborhoods, and these children are our children. And we're going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics." Notice regardless of politics.

If you are going to control guns, start with the criminals, the underground, and the many foreign factions in America, then go to Congress, the Senate, the Legislators, and the President and disarm them and all their body guards first! Then worry about the hard working, honest people whose taxes pay their bills. Remind them that they work for us, not the other way around! And we are not TWO YEAR OLDS!!!! If crime didn't pay, nobody would do it would they???!!!

Is there a way to UN-SIGN this petition? I want to make it known to any and all that I reverse my decision. After the tragedy that has happened today, and the sickening number of similar tragedies this country has witnessed, I found myself reading an article on how Japan and other countries have extremely strict gun laws and their yearly gun related death rate is lower than the number of precious lives that were lost in Connecticut today. I have a 4 year old daughter who I'm terrified to put...

I have a 4 year old daughter who I'm terrified to put into school next year.

These tragedies happen all over the country, who knows where the next person will go insane and slaughter dozens of innocent children. I wont let mine be one of them so I've chosen to home school my daughter. I was home schooled throughout all of my teens and I'm one of the most sane people I know!

I would love to continue to support our right to keep and bare arms, especially with the constant threat of being over-policed by our government... but the risk is just too great to let any Joe-shmoe run around with a gun. Even responsible and intelligent people have had severe accidents while hunting. Instead of fighting to keep our guns so that we can fight our government if the need ever arises, we should fight to change our government so that we no longer have to fear it!

Please share this story on whatever media you use if you feel it makes sense. To those that will argue my point, you're wasting your time. There is no changing my mind. I've read too much about other countries that live peacefully with strict gun control laws. They don't lose their children to lunatics shooting up their schools! There is no arguing with that. Nothing you can say will be able to dispute that undeniable truth!

When you become an American citizen, the entire oath states over and over that once you are granted the right and privilege as a US citizen you also promise to carry the responsibility to bear arms as instructed by the U.S. gov., you take the oath under law to protect and fight for your new soil. So how do you protect and fight for your country as a civilian solider instructed and commanded by law with if all bear arms rights are restricted , changed or taken out of your hands?

We have a process in place under the U.S. Constitution in order to change the Constitution. If those persons wishing to restrict Second Amendment rights want to attempt such change, then it ought to be with a no less than two-thirds majority of both the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate AND and three-quarters majority of the several states (38 of 50)
