I think this is a great cause. The only thing I don't agree with is hangings. I don't believe in the death penalty. The U.S. has the death penalty and hasn't change the crime rate one iota. There are 2.3 million people presently in U.S. prisons that prove that the death penalty is not a deterrent against crime. The solutions can't be just about punishment. Education, jobs etc will help reduce crime, particularly with young people.

Sharon I feel the same way you do, however many of mates feel by bringing back hanging it might help but an end to some of the bizarre and horrible things happening in Jamaica. I do disagree. Albeit, these people and teens many of them cannot be taught as they have no conscience, emotions or know what love is. I believe in Teach one Reach One but it does not work in every situation, I truly do not know what the answer is maybe tanks on the streets for a while with a curfew....but no...

There are too many children being abused sexually and physically along with woman and man.
That is a scar for life...
Hope you signed the petition and are recruiting family and friends as many as possible. Also do not forget your twibbon...1Love and Bless...

Yes, I did sign the petiton. All children are born with a clean slate. So if they have not learned to have empathy for others, then you need to look to the caregivers. The problem may be that the caregivers were raised the same way and do not have the proper skills themselves to teach the children proper social behaviour. The problem may be that the caregivers were raised the same way and do not have the proper skills themselves to teach the children proper social behaviour. These chiidren then become teenagers and then young adults with anti-social behaviour. These problems are generational and will continue unless the social issues that are causing them are dealt wiht. Poor education, lack of jobs, lack of extracurricular activities to keep the kids occupied and stimulated, which in turn keeps them out of trouble. Never ending poverty which leads to feelings of hopelessness, frustration, anger, resentment etc. etc. Showing aggression by the use of tanks will inevitably cause more violence, which is what you want to avoid. As for hanging young people the idea to me is repulsive and contradicts the idea of reducing violence. Meeting out violence for violence I don't believe is the answer.

If you REALLY want to get Jamaica back to that, you'll probably have to kick the U.S. Embassy and World Bank out, peacefully of course! Have you read the new "novel" STIR IT UP yet? So much truth in one book!

I am so a shame of what is happening in my Country, it reminds me of the same problems in Africa, the raping , killing and the brutal manner in which both government and people have determined to be the norm of the day. I ask one question ,when will they wake up to the reality of the destruction and the poverty they are inflicting on themselves. The Jamaica I knew as a child ,was one of good structure, in that ,though there were problems it never reached the stage of unmanageable proportion....

The Jamaica I knew as a child ,was one of good structure, in that ,though there were problems it never reached the stage of unmanageable proportion. The government of the day ensured that and the young people were trained to respect their elders. I believe what is lacking in most cases is respect, trust and the ability to exercise compassion.

Nothing is more powerful than the voice of a nation, which are its people if we think all our problems will be solved by politicians we are wrong.I think its time that we start pulling up our socks and come together for the benefit of our children and the generation after."prayer with action".
