I couldn't agree with you more. Every time I visit it saddens me to see my hometown in this condition. I'm sure am grateful I don't live there today. But with that said, I wouldn't trade my childhood in Anderson for nothing. Back in the day it was a wonderful place to grow up.

My son was Officer Brent D Long of the Terre Haute Police Dept. His EOW was July 11th, 2011. As heartbreaking that it was losing him, I know he would be 100% with me on saying how important it is to keep up the Police in your community. I would hate for you to loose a police officer for being under staff or any civilian for being under staff with not enough Police Officers, its an expense you can not afford not to keep. As heartbreaking that it was losing him, I know he would be 100% with me on saying how important it is to keep up the Police in your community. I would hate for you to loose a police officer for being under staff or any civilian for being under staff with not enough Police Officers, its an expense you can not afford not to keep. Brent was a K9 Officer and he loved his dog Shadow and they were a great team together and had a lot of arrest. Being a Police Officer was his greatest dream and loved to serve and protect his community but no one can do it alone. It takes alot of Officers to protect a city of your size and I bet there are alot of people in your community who would love to serve and protect their community. Don't let a tragedy make you stop and think that you should have had more officers to protect your community, no human life is worth that , you can not put a price on safety for your community don't let it hit home before it's too late. God Bless your community!

If you want to complain about crime, then talk to your judges, because I can almost guarantee that most of all these criminals that you are talking about have more than just one mark on their record. There is no reason for someone that has had robbery 3x's, assault 4x's, that is not the lack of police that is the damn judge(s) fault for allowing these people back on the streets, and most police now days are just as bad of criminals as some of the ones serving time in prison. WAKE UP PEOPLE.

It is totally incomprehensible that the only place the city can find to help the budget is in the police force or the fire department force.

less police means less safety keep the streets safe keep the 7 officers on pay.

More police officers = less crime. I would rather my tax money go towards more officers than people sittin on their ass at home while we all work!

The idea of cutting costs on the backs of the police & firefighters is way overrated by any administration. The police are the #1 defense against crime and it sure sounds like Anderson needs them more than most.
