Absolutely ridiculous to cut this benefit even for the so called ''rich''! no-one with children is rich, penalised at every turn as far as I can make out. This is a benefit is for our children and our future labour force I don't mind paying tax to fund this benefit BUT I mind very much paying tax to fund big salaries to incompetent politicians... get rid of the fat cats and mind the children... do they realise if children are not looked after they not be around to keep country afloat in...

Child benifit should be means tested like other social welfare payments and that way the people who really don't need it don't get it, the people who do will and the government gain! they should not make famlies who need it suffer when it is only loose change & pocket money to the wealthy!

in years gone by the government tried to give to children now they are doing their best to take it away from them so many families are depending on child benefit to supply the needs of their children, but people in the government would not know about this they never needed anything because the people of ireland pay their wages

Means test please, there are plenty that don't need it , and plenty that do! Those whose children may go a bit hungry must be protected at all costs!

Me too Caroline.. I'm terrified of what they are going to do. My child benefit I spend on heating for the month and then I get my months supply of meat for dinners and freeze it. I winters coming and my son has a complex heart condition. I'm so worried that I will have to choose between heating our home or feeding my child this winter. I've applied for carers allowance but there is a 10 month waiting list.. Another fiasco that this government create.
