I have tried, during the last few years, to grow more 'bee-friendly' flowering plants, and saw some bees during this last disastrous summer, despite the rain.
Well done you Sylvia - our bees seem to be thriving despite the poor summer. But almost all the honey has had to be left for them to eat for this coming winter. They deserve it though. Fascinating creatures and so clever.
Enough with the poisons already!
nobees no life
Poisons that kill insects will kill us. Anyone who has learned about Integrated Pest Management knows this or should. We're in a new century, we should know better.
we need the honey BEE'S SAVE THEM!!!
Please Please everyone read this.
Many of us fought to have a ban in the Uk and Europe. We supposedly won. But the ban is a total sham.
The ‘ban’ doesn’t come into force until December. By then most if not all farmers will have purchased their chemical coated seeds for next year.
They are only banning 3 of the neonicotinoids. There are others, which will not be banned.
They are only being banned from using on pollinating plants, so will still be used on other crops, meaning that there...
They are only being banned from using on pollinating plants, so will still be used on other crops, meaning that there will continue to be residues on the land. And it is not known how long residues last for.
There is no ban on all the other insecticides, which may also be having a detrimental effect on all bees and other pollinating insects.
New studies show that not only are bees are being affected, but hoverflies and lacewings too. So the notion by many folk that there are other insects, which can go on pollinating, is false.
We have had the most amazing apple blossom this year, yet very few bees working it – one or two here and there. The same with comfrey, which would normally be humming with bumble bees. We in the Uk have had a very long winter, and still a cool spring. Indeed, the coldest spring in 50 years. This has undoubtedly has had a serious effect on bee populations of all kinds. Undoubtedly too, they have been weakened by chemicals.
Think about it seriously. Insecticides do that – kill insects! So...
Think about it seriously. Insecticides do that – kill insects! So what can we expect – dead bees, dead hoverflies, dead lacewings….. all for the sake of money and power.
The same people are pushing to ban all seeds that are not controlled by Monsanto and the other chemical industries, so that we have to use their genetically modified seeds, which will only grow by using their chemicals.
The same people who are trying to ban the use of homeopathy, herbs and other forms of natural healing, so that we are all hooked on to their drugs.
Part three: Please, everyone wake up to what is happening. These multinational companies are after world domination and politicians are falling over backwards to oblige.
So true.. we are not talking politics, but life as we know it.
befor its too late if it already isn't!!
pitty its only us saying stop, our com sold us out years ago,id love to say enjoy the ride ,but i know we will not.
Yes It is a case of tunnel vision with some of the bureaucrats. There is no thought about the wider implications.
thank you all for your responses, i have only found them as only John's was fed back to me. I am a member of the Wedmore Green Group here in England, and we lean on our 'poly-tishons' (oh, a species of parrot!!!!!!!!). perhaps you have local pressure groups you can work with, or join to help the cause. Or even start one yourselves. Just a thought. You can look up our website and get ideas. i wish you all well. melvyn ps i will be happy to hear from you.
bees are essential to our crops and tree survival please sign this..
I also read (I think Einstein said"After the Bees are gone - humans can only exist three years without them"
They just don't learn- LIKE OUR PROBLEMS FROM AGENT ORANGE AND ROUND UP ARE NOT SERIOUS ENOUGH! There are MORE OF US THAN THE FEW THAT ARE RUINING THIS PLANET, WHY DO WE CONTINUE TO SIT ON OUR ASSES AT THE COMPUTER SIGNING THESE THINGS-?
We in the industry simply need to refuse to use them.
Please sign..... cannot imagine a world without bees, honey, plants, food etc etc. All starts with bees!!!
My mothers parents started a "honey farm" in the late 1800's or early 1900's in Oshkosh, WI. Berholtz Honey.... I believe my cousin still processes it. Honey is THE PERFECT FOOD! It NEVER spoils, even after 1000 years. It would be a true loss to the world!
Thanks Victoria Staerkel Sometimes the littlest things are the most important! Like bees, and butterflies!
Fully 1/3 of US commercial beehives -- more than 1 million colonies -- have disappeared in the past year alone. Please sign this petition asking EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson to end the use of neonicotinoid pesticides before bees go extinct altogether. For more information, view the film, *Nicotine Bees*, or go to the link --
Our smallest and most precious creatures - they are all important! Without them we all suffer!
