I have tried, during the last few years, to grow more 'bee-friendly' flowering plants, and saw some bees during this last disastrous summer, despite the rain.

Well done you Sylvia - our bees seem to be thriving despite the poor summer. But almost all the honey has had to be left for them to eat for this coming winter. They deserve it though. Fascinating creatures and so clever.

Poisons that kill insects will kill us. Anyone who has learned about Integrated Pest Management knows this or should. We're in a new century, we should know better.

Remember that you as a WORLD citizen need to do your part. Plant flowers, fruits, veggies, and trees that help the honey bee have a diverse pollen selection which helps with their immune systems. Do not use chemicals i.e. Round Up, Miracle Grow in your gardens but use organic products that will not hurt the honey bees. The average honey bee worker lives 45 days in the spring and summer. So please give her a wide variety to choose from when she is out there working in your garden.
