I have tried, during the last few years, to grow more 'bee-friendly' flowering plants, and saw some bees during this last disastrous summer, despite the rain.

Well done you Sylvia - our bees seem to be thriving despite the poor summer. But almost all the honey has had to be left for them to eat for this coming winter. They deserve it though. Fascinating creatures and so clever.

Poisons that kill insects will kill us. Anyone who has learned about Integrated Pest Management knows this or should. We're in a new century, we should know better.

Both Albert Einstein and Rudolf Steiner declared in public speaches that humanity has got 5 years of survival by the time bees will be estinct. Let's keep a very strong point on the banning of such pesticides.

It is not just about the sweet honey. We need the bees to cross pollinate our fruit trees and plants. Everyone has a purpose no matter how little they are. As for the bees they are very important for our survival.

It would be good to know the cut off date for this petion - a lot of petitions keep circulating and getting signed long past their sell-by date. Petition fatigue can set in if one discovers ones self wasting time with an old poetition...so this information [a date] needs to be in the first 3 paragraphs of page 1.

They are only banning 3 of the neonicotinoids. There are others, which will not be banned.

They are only being banned from using on pollinating plants, so will still be used on other crops, meaning that there will continue to be residues on the land. And it is not known how long residues last for.

There is no ban on all the other insecticides, which may also be having a detrimental effect on all bees and other pollinating insects.

New studies show that not only are bees are being affected, but hoverflies and lacewings too. So the notion by many folk that there are other insects, which can go on pollinating, is false.

We have had the most amazing apple blossom this year, yet very few bees working it – one or two here and there. The same with comfrey, which would normally be humming with bumble bees. We in the Uk have had a very long winter, and still a cool spring. Indeed, the coldest spring in 50 years. This has undoubtedly has had a serious effect on bee populations of all kinds. Undoubtedly too, they have been weakened by chemicals.

Think about it seriously. Insecticides do that – kill insects! So...

The same people are pushing to ban all seeds that are not controlled by Monsanto and the other chemical industries, so that we have to use their genetically modified seeds, which will only grow by using their chemicals.

The same people who are trying to ban the use of homeopathy, herbs and other forms of natural healing, so that we are all hooked on to their drugs.

Bees are essential!!! We must stop killing off the bees! Without bees there would be no flowers, fruits or vegetables. Nature is a delicate balance. Every species has a purpose.
