The ‘ban’ doesn’t come into force until December. By then most if not all farmers will have purchased their chemical coated seeds for next year.

They are only banning 3 of the neonicotinoids. There are others, which will not be banned.

They are only being banned from using on pollinating plants, so will still be used on other crops, meaning that there will continue to be residues on the land. And it is not known how long residues last for.

There is no ban on all the other insecticides, which may also be having a detrimental effect on all bees and other pollinating insects.

New studies show that not only are bees are being affected, but hoverflies and lacewings too. So the notion by many folk that there are other insects, which can go on pollinating, is false.

We have had the most amazing apple blossom this year, yet very few bees working it – one or two here and there. The same with comfrey, which would normally be humming with bumble bees. We in the Uk have had a very long winter, and still a cool spring. Indeed, the coldest spring in 50 years. This has undoubtedly has had a serious effect on bee populations of all kinds. Undoubtedly too, they have been weakened by chemicals.

Think about it seriously. Insecticides do that – kill insects! So what can we expect – dead bees, dead hoverflies, dead lacewings….. all for the sake of money and power.

The same people are pushing to ban all seeds that are not controlled by Monsanto and the other chemical industries, so that we have to use their genetically modified seeds, which will only grow by using their chemicals.

The same people who are trying to ban the use of homeopathy, herbs and other forms of natural healing, so that we are all hooked on to their drugs.

Or even start one yourselves. Just a thought. You can look up our website and get ideas. i wish you all well. melvyn ps i will be happy to hear from you.

I have a bee hive. In my wall. Above my bed. I have to defend my bee hive against a succession of neighbours that live in the rental house next door. I explain to them how important bees are to my vege patch... suddenly they start thinking bees are good instead of bees might sting me or my kids... but I have to EXPLAIN that every time.

Check the rates pf lung cancer in non-smokers. Lung cancer is judged so harshly by the populous, yet it can affect anyone. The very people that throw stones may very well find it surface in their friends or family. Then, maybe people will wake-up because it still is the No. #ONE KILLER, by disease. To me, it's awful that folks pass judgement on sick, dying, or dead people for any reason. Sorry about the tirade kiddo. I will sign the petition today. What about an "Anti-greed Petition "? Luv

As a bee keeper myself ,I find that I can no longer afford to keep them. It's painful to see a hive die off from chemical poisoning. But look who we are dealing with here....Big business ,Bayer, all the people that make billions because that's the name of that game!! A few get rich so that many end up poor. I feel it's already too late .....wise up people...the greed of these big company's comes before some friggin little insect!

Hi Ed. I agree wholeheartedly. Move to Amend is a national organization working to end corporate rule and take back our democracy. It gets to the roots of many of the world's problems, the corporate takeover of the resources of the earth. The movement is to abolish corporate personhood and strike down the legality of money as a form of free speech. This will help bring the power back to the people. Check it out. Movetoamend.org Keep up the good work with the bees.

Ten years ago in this neighborhood I counted zero honey bees .. Bumble bees,
Apis bombidae, yes but no Apis Melifera.. Honey bee! Previously I kept a dozen
Hives in north Scituate but was wiped out by Chem Lawn in the 80s. So my daughter ,Kerry, and I went to URI to refresh our bee keeping skills and educate
Ourselves with the 21st Apis Melifera !,,!! Things that weren't there then are here now! Mites,,,,,two kinds one is so small it gets in their wind pipe! The other latches on to its...

And now we got more chemical s dumped into the environment for what good??? We need neonicotines?? How are they going to be good for you and I if they kill the honey bees ..I honestly think some fecking idiot screwed up big
Time spent someone else's money makin some bullshit formula that's completely
Fucking up the whole environment ! Worse than asbestos, bad as mercury and anyone with half a brain knows these folks didn't do their homework..if they did
They would have realized they killed the hero of the American food basket!!

This sort of thing has been going on since the 1970's. Until big business isn't run for purely profit(whatever the cost to other human beings or the planet) not much will change until more of us stand up and be counted. These people in power and big business, because of their wealth think they won't be affected or just don't care, I'm not sure if their judgement is impaired, what happens to this planet is going to affect every single one of us!

One of the problem with neonicotides is it never biodegrades, it stays in the soil forever. It passes in the human body, too, from parents to children & their children and so on. It not only poisons the soil & those who eat the foods contaminated with it, but it prevents plants from absorbing necessary minerals & nutrients. In effect, its killing us by demineralizing us, which causes cancer, heart disease, and so forth. 20% of the US population no longer lives past 50 & 1/3 never make it to...

Just a thought....but ash die back as been in europe for 20odd years now & getting increasingly either virulent or widespread...who knows which...however, neonics have been in europe for the same amount of time. Neonics must necessarily be in the water table as they don't break down in water. Ash loves to grow in a more watery soil.

It's not only the bees that are showing signs of distress but there are a whole host of other flora & fauna that are displaying distress signals. You just have to look at the compromised immune systems of a variety of trees in the UK: oak, horse chestnut, juniper, larch, & now ash to name the ones we know about.
When did you last see a hedgehog? They "enjoy" a diet predominantly of earthworms that dwell in a pesticide laden soil. They process soil through themselves......are they little succulent poison bombs for the hedgehog?
Newts & other aquatic creatures that try to live in our water systems. I can almost bet that over 50% of you have not seen a newt in years.
Just a thought or two.
