the gun in mention was on top of a frig.. he is 12 he knew gun safety if he didn't then someone should have spoken to him.. DON'T put blame where there is none... it is very sad we lose kids everyday.. so parents step up talk to ure kids... don't blame someone tha'ts the problem put blame somewhere else not on the parents.

I agree with you. He wanted to do it, so he did it. It didn't matter where the gun was. He would have found a way to kill himself.

Laws are not a remedy for comon sense. Laws only punish those who do not learn from lifes lessons. Guns do not kill. People kill people!

I have raised four children and have more grandchildren great grandchildren than I can remember. Me and my family has always and always will have weapons ready and available for family defense. If I lock them up out of reach how could they protect protect my family from those that don't ever obey the law?

We grew up with guns in our house. Noone touched those guns because we were taught to respect them and they weren't for settling differences, but to put food on the table. My father and brothers killed squirrel and deer and we ate what those guns provided. Sure, if you aren't going to teach your child what that loaded gun is for, pass that law. Any responsible gun owner would never leave a child uneducated that they're dangerous. I appreciate you thinking of me on this, Stephanie...

I agree Kim, our Boyd know about guns but also have been taught not play with them cause they aren't toys. Kids need to be educated at a young age .

Just have to share something here...from my 19 year old. I was telling him about this petition and he made a valid point I'm like to share. His words, "Things like this are brought on by people who keep guns and make comments like 'I'll kill that SOB, shoot him between the eyes.' Don't teach your kids that attitude and they won't have it." A wise child, in my view. Seriously, you're teaching your children with every word you speak. You can't expect them to have respect for guns or people or themselves if you don't show them!!

This is a very tragic thing that has happened n I am for one really good friends with Tylers mother and the blame should not be put on her. It was not in her house that he got the gun... I think Tylers Law is a very good way to open up peoples eyes n.make more parents opens their eyes n realize that things like this does happen so I support his mother in this 100 percent.... Love n prayers to his mom step dad n siblings!

I agree Amy, But The idea of Locking up Your Guns is kinda Crazy, If you and your kids are at home asleep and some man is breaking in your house, you barely have enough time to get up and even get your gun ,what are you gonna do, tell the Guy breaking in to hold on while you look for your keys to unlock your pistol ? You or your kids would be dead, No one wants a kid to get Hurt ,Parents just need to be responsible and put the gun where kids won't be ,,and when the kid gets old enough to...

But we have to be responsible somehow without locking it up, why have it if its locked and takes 5 minutes to open in the dark. I fel sorry for the parents who lost kids ,

All I have to say about this tragic story is I'm sorry for your loss but GUN's don't kill, PEOPLE do. That's almost as bad as my 5yr old saying my pencil made my mistake. If ALL PARENTS would teach their children not to play with guns it would be just fine, but instead, they buy water guns and teach them TO shoot at others, Nurf guns included. Stop giving in and go back to the old days where when Mom or Dad said no the child knew not to ask again! Sorry for the loss of your beloved child,...

They can shoot nurf guns and water guns at each other, but the fact is that they need to be taught that guns kill, and when you are dead you are dead. There is no coming back. It isn't like a video game. I had water guns and nurf guns, but I was taught that dead is dead and don't point a loaded gun at anything unless you plan to kill it.

I'm very sorry for your loss. But if it was his time to go there is no way it could have been stoped. Maybe we should put a ban on kitchen knives, ball bats, bicycles, etc.... They are all very dangerous in the hands of people who want to do harm.

Bullets are instant dead when another child is aming it at another child when just playing around..the results are my son Tyler (deceased). Your right there are alot of things but we can only change one thing at a time in this world..but if we save just one..thats amazing..

I would let a robber take everything in my house if it means keeping a loaded gun away from kids and saving their life...the chances of a child getting ahold of a loaded gun unlocked is greater than a robber coming into your house with a gun..

That robber will one day rob your house and probably slip you a thank you before doing whatever he wants because he has a gun and you do not!
In fact! Advertise it! put a NO GUNS IN THIS HOUSE sign out the front, Burglar party night!

GOD does watch over my house...I have so much Faith that I will put that sign on my door...My son would still be alive if he didn't grab a loaded gun from my family's house...I do know that this law will be passed just keep watching and you will see that it will...

I a sorry for your loss but think of it this way if someone is breaking into your house and going to hurt or kill your child and family what would a locked up gun do for you. I grew up with guns and my dad taught me from a young age to never touch that gun and it worked for me and my two brothers. I know it by some chance won't work for all. I am so sorry and pray God gives you the strength you need. I can't even imagine loosing a child. I can't agree with this. I am sorry.
