The School System should take care of the Kids.

Texas' public school system is a blight, and they can use the threat of jail time to force kids to stay in those hellholes? And worse, making children with challenging life situations into criminals? Disgusting. Texas' legislature ought to be ashamed of themselves.

welcome to the prison state-another abuse of our human rights.

As an educator in a Title I city in TX I see high schoolers who have more on their plate than many adults. I know some just don't want to go or do the work but most do want to succeed. I agree that this law should be revoked.

Any student jailed even overnight will thus have a record in the "Justice" system, which will affect them for the rest of their life. And I'm sure this kind of unfeeling punishment affects Black students more often than white.

Yeah I'm glad Diane Tran was cleared of all charges and her arrest was a gross overreaction! I hope she is getting help but she should have gotten help in the first place and it was the Judge's place to have shown mercy to those who needed it and Diane was one of them!

Neither the state nor the States should have this kind of power. It is beyond their Constitutional authority.

Arizonastan and now Texastan...how far will we allow this to go? We must speak up and out to stop the spread of this hideous and barbaric tactic. Our teen years are hard enough, and to think that Diane Tran is staying in school in spite of her enormous responsibilities...she deserves to be honored not put in jail for an excusable absense. What is our school system becoming...a Stalag system? Makes me want to puke!
