Yes the treaties must be honored the government should not take their land. Yet at the same time the situation on reserves and with first nations is in need of some sort of change. A lot of work has to be done, to find a way to change from a culture of dependency back to a culture of pride and self reliance, hope and opportunity. I don't expect the government can make that change, the change has to come from within the first nations themselves.

This is the moment to keep pushing for change, stopping the slow-motion genocide and corporate rape of First Nations.
roger sheakley true alaska native of south east alaska I support all native rights issues and support thge natives of canada, true natives.
Do not steal the land that belongs to the native people!
There appears to be Provincial Parks all over our homelands for the public and tourists to trample all over our mountains and rivers...and many of our people are homeless? There is something wrong when the public supercedes the rights of the original peoples who are sleeping in old cargo's and under tree's with no warmth or home. Its time for people to understand the reality of Cowichan and what the people face on a daily and yearly basis.
My great grandmother was Haida Native and they have nothing left, this has to stop. This lands are belong to them and should not be for sale, any one else's property would not be taken like that, so why are same laws applied to First Nations lands.

Nothing new under the sun. But it does belong to the progenitors of the land.
