Some are Allergic reactions of the skin and the mucous membrane, cancer, DNA alterations. Damage to organs, such as intestines, kidneys and bone marrow. Hearing damage
Finally, a danger of platinum is that it can cause potentiation of the toxicity of other dangerous chemicals in the human body, such as selenium. Words from my knowledge and dictionary.
All for $690 in month, a shame, as again its the plundering from a few "bosses, mine owners " of many wanting to make a living. A life can not be measured in money.

To South Africa, since the end of the Apartheid era, what? Wait! It has not ended, it has just changed forms or am I wrong? Take a good look. What the white minority done to the majority of blacks has turned around, it is the black majority doing it to the white minority, so an art vengeance. No, that is not all, it is black minority against black majority. Exploitation of a race and color that is the same in minority as majority.
Sad and nauseating.-

why single out Australia to take them???????

Because Australia is a big land with few inhabitants. These people will help the economy of Australia grow, as many are young or middle aged. I do believe, they would or will do their part, that they are no burden for Australia. With these immigrants from South Africa, Australia can only win.

Australia has a large yearly intake of immigrants(legal and illegal)..screening of these is very costly and timeconsuming..we DO take them from Africa.A lot of Australia is not suitable for habitation either.

Nicola, I promise you the people that wants to immigrate to Australia is not the slackers of the country, it is people that wants to work, but because of racist laws that is in place are blocked by the government to do so. I fear for my son in first grade future.

I was not implying that they were slackers, just pointing out that all hopeful immigrants are screened as closely as possible. When I applied to come to Australia 30 years ago with my family WE had strict rules too.All governments have the right to approve or disapporove who they will let into their country.

Lonmin should be expropriated and placed under workers control- they and Anglo American should be forced to return all the money they have stolen through tranfer pricing over the years- They should pay each family $1 million compensation.

I think as a South African that every one have the right to Life, Good conditions and Salary.

But this does not excuse people to take the law into their own hands and start to kill people and then cry when they get killed. The famalies of those who died should get compensatoion from the trade unions that stir up violant behaviour in people and by doing so have no regard for the loss of life or damage to property. When people strike and the raises are given the Trade unions also get a raise...

When people strike and the raises are given the Trade unions also get a raise on your hard earned cash. Why must people strugle to make a living to enrich trade unions to have good salaries for them. They only think of their own raise. And they are driving luxury cars while the people supplying them with the luxury lifestile lve in poverty.

I do not agree that a Mine Worker that work under dangerous secumstances should earn less then R18 000 PER MONTH and that they should have at leased a R5 000 000-00 Providend fund paid by the company that will pay out to the families that depend on them to have a future if the person die.

Further in the Photos I have seen there are a huge lack in safety gear control and this should be properly addressed to ensure the well beeing of the workers.

25 years ago, who would of thought an ANC lead Sth Africa government would turn their rifles on their own people, for striking for a living wage?

Barry Bolton

  • Gary McCarthy

Gary the police officers turned their weapons on a bunch of hooligans that murdered innocent people before that. They weren't protesting peacefully. Plus this was an illegal strike that is not protected by the constitution. They police officers fired rubber bullets and tear gas at them and only after they started shooting at the police officers did they police open fire with sharp point ammunition. Like I said above.
