Julie- you are an inspiration to others to do the right thing! I, too, had my abuser arrested and put in jail. He was released although I wanted to press charges. My mom backed down, so he got out. He is a habitual abuser. It took a LONG time and a LOT of therapy to deal all this. I have forgiven my mother and my abuser. I am so glad to hear that your abuser got the justice he deserved! In my case or others, an abuser must answer one day to GOD- He is the Judge of all of us! Bless you!

It's awful, children remember more than people think or realize. I'm sorry to hear what you have had to go through and what your children have had to go through; Keep your head up and stay strong xxx

Sadly abuse happens to men too, less so, but in much higher numbers than we once thought.

Thanks to everyone that took the pledge.I was the victim of rape myself at the age of 19.I was raped by three people at the same time, it was a horrible experience that I still carry with me now at the age of 53.I think I will never forget this horrible experience throughout my life.I hope that any child, woman, girl, man will never go through this experience.I still take medicine today.Time will only show.

Abuse, sexual physical and emotional, affects half the population meaning we're all survivors or supporters. Thank you for taking the pledge, I was raped at 10 years old. I like to think of my scars as battle honors but I too carry them today.

I understand your plight. My mom whipped me one night in a drunken rage because my sister once again broke curfew. The weapon on choice a bunkbed slat. Once she was done my only means of mobility was to drag myself while using my left hand and elbow as my older brother held her off by threatening to break her bottle of wine which was used on the back of my head to stike the last blow. I forgave her I was only 9 years of age. This man needs to be fired because he is going to become...

I understand your plight. My mom whipped me one night in a drunken rage because my sister once again broke curfew. The weapon on choice a bunkbed slat. I forgave her I was only 9 years of age. This man needs to be fired because he is going to become supper cocky and make a bad judgement residing over a case because he already got away with a crime. Put him in jail to make an example of him. Parents wake up and stop beating your children because like my sister your children will grow up and beat you. Spankings are acceptable but I did nothing to deserve what I got except set around my mother constantly to make sure she got a blanket and pillow after she passed out. GOD BLESS

Thanks for sharing your story. Violence is like a disease that gets passed from generation to generation. When we take the pledge we say, we're going to make sure we do our bit to stop it. Stop it in our homes, workplaces and everywhere else. We all have a right to a life free of abuse.
