Instead if getting in a debate you should be talking about supporting our troops in any way you can...

I support our troops but then again it is a hard thing to do when you served in Nam and the thanks we got when coming home and all we see now is the injured getting new cars and houses for their injuries and how many times do we have to see a family being surprised when someone comes home. My father met me at the airport and picked me up when I came home now half the town shows up. I am not jealous it just seems that ALL service personnel should be treated the shame. My father met me at the airport and picked me up when I came home now half the town shows up. I am not jealous it just seems that ALL service personnel should be treated the shame. Check out the pay the service personnel get compared to what we got as well as the other wars. I get sick of the complaints like my vehicle does not have enough armor plate or my computer is broke and I can't get my e mails or watch my kids on you tube. We put extra sandbags in our trucks and we sometimes heard from home once a month. You can check with my family and you will find I wake up screaming quite a bit but I pray and cry it out. I am totally disabled, but trust me in this if the idiot in the White Hose gets reelected we had better be ready for a civil war in this country. You can see how much he has done for the military. Check out where he said they volunteered so they have to take what they get

Pilots, Tank crews and infantry once complained that the armor in their planes just let the bullets go through; their tanks couldn't take a hit; infantry moving long distances in a day, while an earlier generation flew in canvas and wood; tanks couldn't make 10MPH on flat ground and often broke down; infantry struggled one mudhole forward and one back for weeks and months in rain and snow. R & R was rare casualties with milder wounds were sent back to the front and legs lopped off as if the...

WWI was the War to End All Wars and set the stage for more conflict with WWII, the rise of Hitler and the rage of Islam, by the vehicles such as the League of National and that ever impotent UN that Obama is trying to shuffle us into like a deck of cards. Sure this scheme might work if all parties were interested in peace and stability, but they are NOT!

It was hurtful that the Hanoi Janes had more influence than the people on the ground in Vietnam. I waited over 20 years to hear those words "Welcome Home" from other than family and I stayed in that place. In the eyes of the world, the American was the good guys, but the bad guys relentlessly play games with other nations have stirred a hornet's nest and have put our nation and our troops under it. We can't put our troops in the same situation as we were in the wake of Vietnam. The Vietnam Veteran is bigger than that if we are to be true to our nation and the troops we passed the torch to and now find themselves in harms way. I'm sick of complaints about the better treatment of our troops than we were. They faced the enemies that surrounded themselves and now face the enemies within that is causing some to kill themselves. They are sustaining injuries that we did not! Are you going to continue to cry for your past pain while they face internal burdens from their wounds. You are right! We face a grave danger in the people who run this war from the top and our AMMUNITION MUST BE VOTES TO TOSS THEM OUT. We can't get that job done if we are worried about our generation when our grandchildren are the next in line to protect this great nation!

Larry W. Mayes Get the UN out of the US. and get tne US out of the UN. For the greatest and powerful nation ever, it's stupid that we only get one vote, on a par with many third world countries.

We need to bring them all home, and then make it easier for them to fit back in to society by helping them with medical treatment, job searches, and education. The VA is a joke. Soldiers wait months for help. And the GI bill is also very hard and complicated to use. Disability claims can take years. They didn't hesitate to do their duty, and the VA should not hesitate to provide help. Romney wants to increase military spending, but only for the manufacturers, not to help the soldiers!

No. Mitt wants the fix the VA, support families, and provide training for the returning vets. He respects our veterans.

Mitt wants to help soldiers. He wants to make American military the strongest in the world to help protect our soldiers. He wants to fix the VA, support military families, and respect and support our military with proper equipment. He has the back of our military.

Mitt changes his stance wherever the wind blows. Look at Ryan's record on his votes for things that would help soldiers (not the military industrialists). He has voted against everything that would help them.

Gerald, YOU need to look up that story about military paying for their own medical. http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/veteranshealth.asp This link will explain it to you.

I don't agree with your last sentence--where it says encourages more soldiers to seek care--1. Why is it Mental Illness if a Soldier has a problem?

Soldiers go through hell! If someone has reached the point of suicide it has become a mental illness called depression. Heard of it? Anyone who is at that point after giving so much of themselves for us. Should not have to ever feel so alone and shouldn't have to worry about going for help or care

Joan Carol Cramer Cummings

I can't even imagine what our heroes and their families are facing everyday. How can anyone ignore their needs when they have given so much to all of us? This is heart wrenching!

I don't know if you saw the the interview I did on Chanel 41 on the 18th. The reasons for the story was the high number of military suicides in July. I pray this number goes down. I pray for the day it is zero.

As a wife of an USAF retired and Mom of a US Army Soldier, I can tell you first hand that I've seen our young men return from Iraq and Afganistan not the same as when they went over. Yes, we as parents have been very thankful that our son returned home after each of his 4 deployments to his family but at what long term cost? I do believe that most of government cares and the American people care about the military men and women serving and the veterans, they are just tired of hearing about...

I do believe that most of government cares and the American people care about the military men and women serving and the veterans, they are just tired of hearing about the complaints because they don't have an easy answer for us the parents/public at a reasonable cost. I know that we need to desperately fix the VA system to handle the workload so that our vets can be seen without waiting 30 days! The military healthcare needs to do a better job on reimbursements so that more civilian doctors will take this insurance! Congress needs to start listening to the public and the Commander in Chief better realize that the military is in crisis mode!

The Washington administration does not care at all about our brave soldiers and sailors and marines. They prefer to spend money on people too lazy to work and illegals so they can stay in power, caring nothing about those who protect and serve us all!

Dream on, No one in Washington REALLY cares. If they did they would do something about it. I am not blaming the present leaders, Washington has not cared since perhaps the 1950s--if even then. You are too young to have experienced this, but the treatment of Vietnam era military vets is one of the blackest spots of our history! None of us would wear a uniform home for fear of being attacked! It was so bad that where I was and what I did, even the military would not let me wear a uniform off...

You are too young to have experienced this, but the treatment of Vietnam era military vets is one of the blackest spots of our history! None of us would wear a uniform home for fear of being attacked! It was so bad that where I was and what I did, even the military would not let me wear a uniform off base or for traveling. And I did not go to Vietnam. Lost some good friends as a result of Vietnam though--both there and after they returned, one or two to possible suicide. I have a good friend who was spit on at the airport as soon as he got off the plane! Washington hopes we will all die off and probably 30 years from now, they will re-write the history books and Vietnam will not even be mentioned. It has been said, and there is some possible proof, that Vietnam was a calculated deliberate experiment to show the Communist that we were willing to lose over 50,000 actual lives and thousands more whose lives were ruined to show them that we were willing to do this to try to slow down the march of communism around the world. If there was any good that came out of that experinent, perhaps it did slow the expansion some, but there were other ways to accomplish the same goal. And those other ways did succeed in the 1980s without the loss of a single life! Am I still bitter about Vietnam, you are darn right I am!

EMDR is a recently developed therapy which targets severe PTSD. It was approved in 2004 by the VA and US Dept of Defense to tackle the growing problem of suicide in the military ranks. It is HIGHLY effective and works in a shorter time than traditional Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. It is available at most VA facilities, as well as in the private sector, though not all therapists are EMDR trained. It is amazing and it works!

Tonya, I believe if you call the specific facility, they can tell you if they do provide EMDR therapy or possibly refer you to a place that does! I have personally been thru the therapy and now have several friends who have and are starting it. Two are Vietnam vets who are, even now, learning how to live clear and happy lives. In this therapy, the trauma (for me personally it was rape) becomes processed as a memory. and as I went thru the therapy, two of my very close women friends...

In this therapy, the trauma (for me personally it was rape) becomes processed as a memory. and as I went thru the therapy, two of my very close women friends disclosed that they had also been raped earlier in their lives and in all the years we have been friends, we never talked about it. Trauma in any form shapes our lives and without help, we sometimes become hostages to the event. I am such a strong believer in this. You can also check with private therapists in your area but because it requires special training, you must be careful in choosing one. I sincerely hope (as I go on and on here!) that this info has been helpful and that you find what you need.
