The list is sooo long, it would definitely be better to receive a list of "safe" products.
I agree that they need to use a list that is not as long. Positive breeds positive attitudes. I want to see a list of companies that doesn't test on animals, It would also give the animal free testing companies free advertising!
It;s over there Laddies the title is "Companies that are cruelty free". It's a link just click on it and you will see it.
YES! PLEASE! I'd rather look for the Good than weed thru bad. it's generally quicker
Please read my above post, Virginia. Lisa, Pamela,.. I have provided international links for lists of TRULY test-free companies.
being aware of this lot is more important i feel the explotation ..make our own i reckon xxxgo o naturale xx
Go just about any grocery store and stores like Target - there is usually a section of these products. All you have to do is look on label and see it is cruelty free.
Go to Leaping Bunny, they have the list.
no no- that wont help put pressure on the bad ones- we've been asked to simply pick ONE item to make a difference. Its easy- I have for years bought Clinique exfoliator. No more. I will switch to a brand that's not listed here. Its that easy.
They make it hard for a reason....any lists are just a guide, we must stop expecting others to do the work for our own choices, as the list would need constant maintenance, if achievable or ethical as things are constantly changing, as company change, and parent companies etc,YOU HAVE TO DO THE RESEARCH...don't depend or make excuses...WASTED ENERGY apply your criticism to something positive....GOOGLE IT! as their are some great sites out there for purchasing ethically
So where is the "good list" (Companies that are cruelty free)?
Cruelty free brands are hard to find I must admit .........and I think that there should be a LAW compelling manufacturers to mark their products ...........walking around with a list is virtually impossible ...especially if you live in a small village
NONSENSE!!!! THE ARE EASY EASY EASY TO FIND! Almost every grocery chain carries them in one section of the store as do stores like Target! i have been using the for years with no problem finding them. If you have a Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Sprouts, Wild Oats, etc. they stock ONLY cruelty free products. Just look on the label - usually on the back - and it is clearly listed!
From this whole list the only products I have are ORAL-B & GILLETTE . This will go also from now on ! You can do it , really is not that hard . And you life will change for the better , you will not feel the pain of the animal on your body or in your food ! Good luck !
that would be nice but the small town I live in has none of these stores
i have an oral b elec toothbrush
Maggie Schafer I live in England U.K. and I haven't seen this in ASDA,TESCO,SAINSBURY'S. they are the 3 biggest grocery chains in my part of England..
we don`t all live in the "good old US of A "you know
That is true Morag! I order on line, because I cannot find a lot of animal free products here in the USA! Seventh Generation is on Peta's List...can only find a few products in stores here. So...I get what I want from Seventh Generation...and I feel good knowing NO ANIMAL has suffered for the products that I use!
I changed my toothpaste to a Cruelty-free one. It's so sad how many products test and torture on animals. I say let them test on Pedophiles instead!
I agree & also on murderers.
Your right, I wish they would test new products and new medicines on people in prison. And use the ones who are in there for life. because if they die, it's not big deal, they just saved 27000 dollars a year.
The suggestions to test on prisoners is the stupidest idea ever. Ever heard of the 8th Amendment?
I agree Penni Norman take all the murders and rapist also.
Lets all sit here and argue on testing products on those in prison or not 0_o
Really? So those of you who say such obviously have never had someone they care about in prison. I know people in prison for minor shit that piled up, so now you have the right to petition to test products on them? What a shallow fucking world you live in... Some of the most righteous people are doing life and you sit there on your computer and in front of a TV lacking culture and life experience. There was a guy a...

Some of the most righteous people are doing life and you sit there on your computer and in front of a TV lacking culture and life experience. There was a guy a few blocks over who killed 2 pedophiles and is in jail for life, he saved lives and put his on the line, so now we should test products on them?
First off, 99 percent of these products are toxic to begin with, so go ahead and keep poisoning yourself. Secondly, I have no more time to give to your shallow, closed minds... have a nice life swimming around in your puddle spouting off ignorant shit :)
Extremely not funny - transferring cruelty?
What percentage of the population are pedophiles? Grow up.
OMG ITS LOREAL ALSO THAT TESTS ON ANIMALS.....THEY NEED TO TEST ON CHILD MURDERS INSTEAD.
;-( SO SAD
Here in South africa, not alot of choice but I can get decent shampoo and washing powder. Don't know if Elmex tooth paste is cruelty free. all soaps as well.
I would love to sign this but I don't recognize a single product on the Do Not Test list!
I'm just wondering if there is a large database or list of brands that ARE cruelty-free? It would be much easier for me to do the household shopping if I had a list to carry in my purse while at the store. If anyone knows of a current list, please post it! Thanks!
leapingbunny.org---peta. I don't know if this org or com.
Peta has a list, like Beth McMaster already said. But there are wonderful products that have NOT been tested on Animals. Actually I always say, WHY NOT TEST ON THE INMATES WHO TOOK A LIFE, THEY ARE SITTING ON DEATHROW FOR YEARS AND WOULD MAKE GREAT TESTERS!
I would like to test on people like Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan, etc.
Lore ==PETA kills hundreds of animals every year Never donate to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Im a rescuer of Dogs Cats and Horses===The Stories would boggle your mind
I may sound cruel, but I couldnt help but LOVE Lore Harmison's comments. Unfortunately, here in South Africa, the criminals (murderers, rapists, pedophiles, baby bashers) have more rights than the poor Chacma Baboons, that sometimes raid our homes for food. I sometimes think the Human Rights Manifest brought more cruelty to animals than ever before, as humanity believes it has rights and are above every other living thing on this planet.
@Maggie Schafer, You and the 12 people that like thiis are sick. In the 4 years I have put up with this president I have never wished him dead; it is wrong, but if you need a government that holds your hands every step you take and tells what you can eat, drink and whateverthan I guess you'll never appreciate any Republican.
Could you please elaborate on Peta. I have given to this organization before, and would like my dollars to be going to help animals!
I so agree with you Elsje, there are enough serious crims all over the world they should not have rights, they should be tested on ,not animals.
PETA and so many others are excellent organizations! When it comes to 100% test-free product lists, though, Leaping Bunny is the #1 resource. Please remember, "cruelty-free" can be a deceptive term...
Lori Pipe Franklin - That is fantastic! Just wondering though why Avon is not certified, they are on Peta's list. Thanks!

Leaping Bunny - @Lori: Though Avon's policy is not to test its finished products on animals or, as a rule, its ingredients, they are not certified because they still will conduct animal testing at the request of government health or medical organizations. Leaping Bunny's requirements to become certified are the most stringent out there so that is why they currently do not make our list.

And from Leaping Bunny's website:
• Why does this product say, “not tested on animals,” but it is not on the Leaping Bunny list?
Oftentimes, products claim to be "cruelty-free" or "not tested on animals,” but their claims may only refer to the finished product. As you may be aware, the majority of animal testing occurs at the ingredient level. Similarly, some companies may state, “We do not test on animals,” when in fact they merely contract other companies to do the testing. These kinds of claims are often confusing and misleading for consumers.
• What's the difference between the Humane Standards and other 'cruelty-free' lists I have seen?
A number of retailers and animal groups promote their own ‘cruelty-free’ schemes. However, the companies approved by them have often done no more than issue a convincing — sometimes misleading — policy statement on animal testing.
The Leaping Bunny certification is unrivalled, as it requires each company to open its processes to independent audit throughout its supply chain, to ensure that it adheres to its animal testing policy and the Standards’ strict criteria.
And for those who enjoy smart phone apps, you can keep the most current Leaping Bunny list right at your fingertips!
PETA is an extremist organization that kills so many animals every year. Get your goddamn facts straight.
Kim, this pledge is not dedicated to critiquing PeTA's philosophy or history or shortcomings or advantages. It is about companies that do and do not advocate testing upon animals. The purpose of my post was to inform consumers of the most accurate means to determine which company's products are truly not tested upon animals in any stage of development; which is NOT the list that is provided by PeTA.

I can appreciate your personal opinion—it is disheartening that the largest animal rights organizations have become a breeding ground for conflict of opinion—but slamming another organization and being rude to me, when I am one of the few in these comments who is NOT promoting PeTA's list, is counter to the true purpose of an animal rights activist, and only creates hostility between those fighting for the animals. Don't we have enough struggle with the non-activists as it is without going at each other?
Kim Furtado whu is peta killing animals..??
oh GOD .. i ever used DOVE but now .. i use l'oreal (red colour) for wash my hair ! i also used DOWNY !! Vava, This isn't real hard. Use up what you have and then get approved products. The links above have a LOT longer list of companies that don't do animal testing than those that do.
A month ago, my daughter & I found a beagle with a swollen belly wandering our neighborhood, and took it home. Nobody there, so we took it to our home & called the phone # on the tag. Turns out, the owner said dog is a rescue w/ a tatoo on it's ears, and suffers from a serious disease from being in the cosmetic labs. THIS was an animal that was tested on. Everyday, the dog escapes...bites through a 4x4 fence, takes and electric shock, just to run away. This man is trying his best to...

Everyday, the dog escapes...bites through a 4x4 fence, takes and electric shock, just to run away. This man is trying his best to give the dog a good life, but said the dog is so traumatized from the lab life, he doesn't know what to do anymore. This broke our hearts. I am now committed to avoiding ALL products that use animals for testing. CRUELTY!
I am with you too, and let me tell you that I regret that I spent so much money on products that didn't give me the results natural products are giving me . Specially homemade ones .
Good for you Kelly! That is one of the many reasons I love my company so much. It's not just that they have no animal ingredients, but they also do not test on animals. Many people have no idea how important it is to have cruelty free products.
