History has proven that the most effective way to impact a 'system' is to hit it in the pocketbook. Case in point: When Rosa Parks refused to move to the back of the bus and the ensuing behaviour toward her, the African Americans of that area refused to take the buses. They walked. In time the buses caved. With these tuna companies killing 300,000 various marine life in getting their tuna, who are also being decimating the tuna itself, and then lying in their labelling, the strongest way...

With these tuna companies killing 300,000 various marine life in getting their tuna, who are also being decimating the tuna itself, and then lying in their labelling, the strongest way to show them is to STOP buying all their products, tuna or otherwise and most of all, LETTING THEM KNOW and WHY! While we are at it, please take a close look at dairy companies and the horrific conditions sufferred by cows. Of course the beef industry is beyond description but we have to help, not stand wringing our hands in anguish - it's these animals that feel pain, hear the screams, smell the blood and tazered and hit with sticks to move faster to that horrific demise. There are humane ways of ending an animals life if people insiist on eating rotting flesh.

i agree with almost all u r saying Louise except not all dairy animals are ill treated, though certain people who think every one should be vegans would have people believe that. also i do sometimes eat free range, organic meat in moderation, but i have never eaten "rotting flesh" i think that's a bit more dramatic than the situation already is. When tigers or other omnivorse or carnivores eat meat responsibly that is nature, and i am not offended. Some animals do eat carion as well, but...

Some animals do eat carion as well, but others do not. i do not...i think when trying to get signatures for an important cause like this it puts people off who would sign it, because of those who have extreme vegan views trying to make them feel guilty for even eating responsibly harvested fish and meat, so it may be hurting the cause to preach veganism when someone comes here to sign up for helping the dolphins, or over fishing, and enforce honesty in advertising. Thanks :)

Snow - we're not talking about what happens in the wild. That's nature. MOST people do not eat responsibly raised and slaughtered animals. This isn't pretty and I will tell the ugly facts of the brutal treatment of any living animal to help THEM being saved. This isn't a dainty subject, hands are bloodied. I will be extreme when it comes to screaming out the brutal treatment of animals by the meat/fish industry, and I put my money where my mouth is. You're young Snow and maybe...

You're young Snow and maybe idealistic, I'm idealistic but much older than you. I won't even kill a spider but I will take a militant position on the ugliness you are not aware of yet. If you can stomach the research, you might become militant too.

It's great to see so many people have already taken the pledge, at the same time, it's sad to see how many of them did so because they feel sorry for/love dolphins (from what was said on comments), so it's ok to kill tuna since they're not as 'beautiful' or 'magical' as dolphins? Sad.

Most of us DO think it's wrong to kill Tuna for other reasons on so many levels, including their beauty...and I agree that it is sad if people think the way you describe

I personally love all wildlife and the beauties they bring to this Earth and find it wrong to exploit them in any way.

I understand your point completely. I cant say I am vegetarian b/c I do eat chicken from time to time. But just 2 days ago I went to a market, right next to jt was a Fresh Fish store. (I never go in). But that day, something pulled me to go there. ....they had crabs in a box, "alive". It was heart breaking to see them out of their comfort dying SLOWLY! .....it made me sk sad, and alone. Wish more people will feel Oneness with all of the Universe. -Love, Light, &Smiles-Fabi-

Debbie Daniel No...as repulsive as his comment is, I wouldn't say that. He is just saying what everyone believes; Many people think that we need to eat seafood to stay healthy. In fact, I bet if we did a random survey 90% would say so. But the truth is, we don't need fish to survive. There are alternate sources of protein and Omega-3. Soy contains much protein and walnuts contain Omega-3.

In fact, I bet if we did a random survey 90% would say so. But the truth is, we don't need fish to survive. There are alternate sources of protein and Omega-3. Soy contains much protein and walnuts contain Omega-3.

And even IF we needed to eat fish, we shouldn't need to take obsessively large quantities out of the ocean. It is depleting the ocean and causing the deaths of many innocent animals including dolphins, sharks, turtles, and fish. Many of the fish taken away from the sea don't even get eaten. How much more unconscientious and wasteful can humans be? All we care about is ourselves. All we care about is our own egocentric feelings. If killing the whole world is justifiable just because the majority agrees with it, then the world is doomed. People, please wake up. I don't want life to extinguished on this planet permanently because of our ignorance.

Fabiola Salazar I agree with the ONEness of the Universe; and I won't eat crabs etc. since they are tied up for too long--if you get a crab, eat it quick!! Horrid way to die for any creature; then some boiled alive.....yuck.

Dolphins have many, many times gone WAY out of their way to save a human life, as in many cases of surfers being stalked by sharks-these dolphins, for whatever reason, will place themselves between a human and a shark to save a human life. Like it or not, they are linked in to us as few other species. Do we want to thank them back? We should be making contact with them and loving them.

Nope, sorry. Fishing is not sustainable with a world population of 6-7 billion and common use of destructive fishing techniques. Also, the topic of pollution is now critical. Interesting comment (forgot the speaker): "Tuna is how rich people poison themselves." The top predator fish, such as tuna, accumulate mercury and other heavy metals that we're dumping into the oceans. Read up, David!

The bottom line is we are causing major issues with the earth's ecosphere by over fishing all of these resources and commiting genocide on these species. God forgive us please!

I or my children do not eat any type of Tuna for the fact that I have been protesting the issues of Dolphins being caught up in Tuna nets and being chopped up and mixed in with tuna.I have not bought or eaten tuna in over 20 yrs. Dolphins are beautiful and angelic creatures and we all need to do our part to save them.
