I lost my job in 2009 and have not been able to find anything... age discrimination! yet I have 36 years in active work... I hope that my help will serve to something concrete.

As humans are health is unpredictable due to our environment, the GMO foods in our diet, chemicals we are exposed to cleaning products, etc., some conditions are due to unfavorable working conditions such as asbestos, hidden mould, unhealthy air in office buildings....the list goes on....WE ARE JUST HUMAN BEINGS, we are affected by our environment and by each other, at some point we get sick and for those employees who come to work sick they infect others with their sickness so who is to...

The company is to blame for allowing a sick person to come to work. The companies should be required to take responsibility for their employees and pay for sick days if needed, anywhere from 100% to no less than 60% of sick pay. There are alot of other factors to investigate regarding the general guidelines for Sick Pay Days whether it would be national or based on individual states guidelines.

Because there is so many health problems, diseases, and sickness, in the United States, it would seem natural to have PAID SICK DAYS. One of the leading causes of stress is overworked, underpaid, worry and anxiety of job stability, lack of, or loss, etc., financial burden, the list again goes on which unfortunately stresses like these burden our health both physically and mentally.

Times have changed and NOW IS THE TIME FOR PAID SICK DAYS FOR ALL WORKERS!

A take on Europe. Lived there for 7 years with the military. In Germany, if one is willing to work, one will work. Working gives you 7 days every year (besides vacation time) at a spa to to rehabilitate you from stress, normal problems and general good health. Besides this, if you work, you are taken care of for all health problems. (All!) Other: if a new couple build a home, no propert taxes for 7 years if the home is not complete. They normally leave one brick out for those years. ...

Plus, if you get damage to your vehicle by some other driver, the other drivers insurance pays to repair it.... and you also get 10 % extra for what you would lose when you sell it as it was in an accident. Over here, someone wipes out your car. There insurance pays for the damage, but you lose, lose, lose when you try to sell it because the car fax will show it was in an accident. Could go on and on.

Deborah Parks, your comment regarding telecommuting during the 1990's may relate to your own experience but it is demeaning to women globally who telecommuted in the 1980's and 1990's in professions like legal, accounting and tertiary eduction for example, and was not limited only to computer input work! Oh, and some of us worked up to delivery, went back to work after two weeks, were happy, more productive and have beautiful stable happy adult children. Separately, US workplace laws need to...

Australia has had sick leave, carer's leave, personal leave, parental leave, equal opportunity, and anti-discrimination laws for decades. Long Service Leave was put in place so long ago, the 13 weeks for 15 years continuous service was calculated based on 6 weeks to travel to England by ship, one week staying with the folks, and six weeks back by ship. It can also be taken pro-rata after 5 years continuous service under certain circumstances and some employers pay two months after 10 years continuous service.

Economics, politics & FIRRE control our lives. They impact our energy, education, tax reform, 2nd & 10th amendment rights, life, marriage & other liberties. One issue in which I’m most passionate about is our fiscal & economic policy. I believe our current economic policies needs to incorporate controlling spending & debt. We need to adopt a tax system that is fair & energizes job growth. The number one economic, financial, jobs & tax problem in America & the State of Indiana is the lack of demand, purchase or sales of "MADE in America" either manufactured goods or services in America by American citizens. Corporate America hires thousands of educated foreigners through the H1 visa program to work for approximately 60-80% of the compensation that they would need to pay an American college graduate with a degree in engineering, science or business. These American citizens with these college degrees have accumulated up to a $100000 + in debt to pay for their education & are many times working in poverty wage jobs today & cannot pay their debt (Occupy Wall Street & America) that is forcing their parents & grandparents to pay co-signed loans (or these parents are being foreclosed on a second or third home mortgage or they are declaring bankruptcy). Furthermore, federal government Pell grants & Stafford loans that are not being repaid are adding to the USA $16T debt. And, many American "Knowledge" jobs are being exported to other countries such as the Phillippines where their young people are well educated, speak English & are able to transact data & messages via smart phones.

Goods need to be manufactured in America, not imported or assembled & then distributed & sold in America from tax abated & tax increment financed (TIF) district warehouses & retail paying poverty wages & employing illegal aliens. To solve this number one problem, Corporate America & entrepreneurs with the assistance of IN M. Brent Pittman's National Security, Economic, Jobs and Tax Reform Strategic Plan need to create good paying American jobs with good benefits for American citizens. This is my economic development objective & definition vs. the current one of exploding the population at huge cost to the citizens, taxpayers and the government. Read my strategic plan & resume below that will provide your children & grandchildren the American Dream of a prosperous career & a better standard of living than you are experiencing today.

M. Brent Pittman's National Security/Economic/Jobs/Tax Reform Strategic Plan for America & ALL States.

Both the Republican & Democrat parties are going in the wrong direction. To save & preserve all USA Constitutional amendments & citizen rights, life, marriage, liberty, entrepreneurial ranking, credit rating, stock & bond markets, the $, Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid & the police, fire, k-12 public schools, libraries, military, defense & homeland security budgets while CUTTING government spending, debt & present taxes without causing inflation or high interest rates; ALL State & Federal parties would be winners if they would compromise with the following strategies:

Create good paying American jobs with good benefits for American citizens by repealing all sales/consumption taxes & replace the lost revenue with an import tax/tariff on imported labor (India & the Philippines) & manufactured goods (Mexico & Communist China, North Korea & Vietnam). (Burn the USA Free Trade Agreements because USA citizens are the world's #1 consumer/customer. Stop the USA's nation building because this world peace strategy is exporting USA wealth & increasing USA debt.)

Increase the federal income tax deduction from $5700 (2010) to $15000 for American citizens. Increase the IN state income tax exemption for non-dependent adults from $1000 to $5000, up to $15,000; depending on disabilities and age. (OR, burn both the federal & state individual income tax codes & give each income receiving American citizen a $50000 standard deduction while keeping current dependent exemptions. Then tax the next $50000 at 2%, the next $50000 at 4%, the next $50000 at 6%, etc. until the federal & state budgets are balanced. My strategic plan will cut government spending & increase tax revenues. Burn USA business & corporate income tax codes & place a "fair tax" or "flat tax" (with a standard deduction of $5Million) on ALL USA business & corporate sales,/revenue/income/earnings including foreign after deducting compensation and benefits for American citizens' labor; except for CEO's and their immediate subordinates). All standard deductions & exemptions should be adjusted for inflation. Collect an export tax on natural resources/commodities such as oil & grains.

Repeal all millionaires' individual & business/new development/construction tax incentives such as tax abatement, tax increment financing (TIF), grants, deductions, credits, industrial revenue bonds, subsidies, earmarks, loopholes & other corporate welfare that have become entitlements & that are shifting business costs & taxes to other taxpayers, exporting American jobs or creating poverty wage American jobs. (OR, require these corporate welfare kings to pay a living wage, minimum wage of $15/hour (2010) with good benefits; adjusted for inflation). Repeal IN "right to work legislation". The USA needs the union wage & benefits to create more demand for "made in America"; but, eliminate unproductive, inefficient & costly union work rules & idle time. Repeal IN tax cuts for corporate/business income (25%), inventory, property & inheritance (OR, increase the exemption to $15 million for inheritance taxes). These are either "incentives" to steal jobs from another USA state, county, city &/or town or tax cuts for millionaires. They are not creating good paying jobs in America & the government treasuries need the tax revenue to balance their budgets. Only give non-millionaires more tax cuts to increase demand for "MADE in America". Repeal EITC, EDGE & EDIT. These are corporate welfare. Eliminate all economic development and redevelopment commissions. They are too expensive and create "crony capitalism". Collect mandatory impact fees (IN code: 36-7-4-1300, only infrastructure today); but, expand the code to collect mandatory impact fees (MIF) on NEW homes sold at a price less than the USA median price of $224,759 (Bloomberg Business Week July 2, 2012 p. 42) & NEW retail & warehouse businesses for schools, libraries, parks, police & fire. MIF will cut taxes & government debt. MIF can be included in a thirty year mortgage keeping monthly home and business payments reasonable. I am not surprised to hear about unpaid sick leave policy in the US. I wonder if there's a leave called sick leave in their Employ Manual?
