We've all heard stories of drivers and pedestrians using all their might to pull people (usually trapped by the dashboard) from a burning car that is literally seconds away from exploding. Do we call these people "FOOLS," and have them lose their jobs for such actions? NO! WE CALL THEM "HEROES!" AND - THEY DESERVE TO BE COMMENDED AS SUCH! What an even MORE heart-moving and act of bravery for this man to put his "life on the line," (LITERALLY!), to save "man's best friend," an innocent, hurt dog, in need of rescue! This man's heart and soul was obviously touched by God, to risk his own heath, and even his very LIFE, to save this dog from certain death! We've also heard many stories about the "family dog" saving FULL FAMILIES from death by "alerting" the family to fire/carbon monoxide fumes in the home. A dog like this will bark, pull on their "family's" blankets, and even go so far as to drag a child from its bed to save the lives of the people it loves! WHY, PLEASE TELL ME, WHY, is this poor man now in the position of possibly losing his job and salary, (he most likely has a family to support, the same as you and I do!), for the extreme bravery it took for him to save the life of this helpless dog? MANY of us have "family pets..." If it had been YOUR DOG, (OR CAT!), who was pulled back into life by the hands of this brave man, who, I am sure, was acting in a manner that was "strongly inbred" in him, (YES! WE are animals TOO!) would you want this man FIRED, or - WHERE HE BELONGS - UP ON A STAGE SOMEWHERE, RECEIVING APPLAUSE AND A PLAQUE FOR HIS BRAVERY, AND LOVE OF ANIMALS? The "Health and Safety Department of Southern Rail should be COMMENDING THIS MAN, for his bravery and instinctual actions to save this dog, one of God's loving creatures, as sure as we all are! Southern Rail, you should be ashamed of yourselves! Give this man his job back, and, in my opinion, A RAISE IN SALARY - Surely he would get BOTH, had it been a "human being" he had saved from certain death! LET'S GET "TOM" back to work! As far as principles and morals go, you will NEVER FIND A BETTER EMPLOYEE! Sincerely, Tricia Rueda <3!
Reinstate the guy.
The heath and safety dept : are a laugh as far as I am concerened they take things TOO far, how can they sack a person for saving a life, isn't that initself to do with HEALTH! as far as I can see they have nothing better to do than to make up rules as they go along... Tom should be COMMENDED for what he has done.
I am shocked! Tom you did an amazing thing! If only the world had more people like you it would be so much a better place!
Great Petition to sign-Please take a look! I'm a solid animal advocate and resuce person. Please speak for the animals and this worker-why does he deserve that? Thank you for signing and send on to your friends!
I'm sure if this had been a child on the tracks the outcome of Tom's actions would have been much different. So my question is what is the difference they both are living, breathing thing. I believe this action on Southern Railroad puts a very dim look on their organization. Southern Railroad should be proud of their employee and commend him which would look very favorably on them instead.
I think he should be praised not punished! Even if you don't really care. Think PR and suck it up and do what's right! Let Tom keep his job! You really need to get in touch with people and how...we the people support your job!
this company dosent deserve a employee like Tom, someone with a love of animals should be praised for what he did not suspended, southern rail hang your head in shame, sometimes OSH is a bit OTT and in this case it should have been overlooked. Hope the dog recovers and finds a loving home.
good work Tom shows you have a heart.Shame on your employers.
I feel he should be praised for an act of bravery not punished, he was doing what he felt was right and should be given a medal not the sack x.
