so next time leave a dog on the lines watch it be run over and see the holdups that ensue whilst they stop the train clear the lines and make it "safe" to travel onwards, it takes hours! if you jobsworths don't care about the dog, think about the hassels he saved you by moving it!

Well I'm sorry but they're just not like the rest of us. They take our jobs, I mean people could guide blind people, herd sheep etc during these hard times. They can't speak English and they breed with their own families. They also eat their own kack....

The man was begging for help and I had seen the accident happen. Technically yes, I broke the law because I acted without thinking and used an emergency response vehicle on blue lights. However, our superiors in whatever employment need to remember that their staff are only human. Yes, rules are there to protect everyone but at times our humanity means that sometimes we have to step outside these rules in order to save a life (human or otherwise). If not, our 'humanity' is lost and what are we then?

These health and safety cretins need to be tied to a railway track and trains run up as close to their wretched heads as can be judged almost safe. They then need to be paraded through the streets in dunces caps and pelted with excrement. Who are these repulsive creatures?

What annoys me, is Tom showed care and compassion for a dog, who was in imminent danger. Southern Rail, if they were smart, would be using this story to show what a great calibre of employees they have... the positive press would have been amazing..... but instead, the idiots in Heath and Safety and the Management Team of Southern Rail, have decided to put Tom's job in jeopardy, threatening to fire him after a review of the facts.
I hope the CEO comes to his senses, stops this ridiculous...

I hope the CEO comes to his senses, stops this ridiculous inquiry and instead, offers Tom an apology, gives him his job back, applaud his actions and give a donation to the Battersea Dog and Cats Home, to pay for the care of this dog, who ended up on the tracks, because their fencing around the lines allowed this dog to wander into danger. Instead of Tom being in trouble, Health and Safety should be, as they are the ones responsible for the safety of all beings around their rail lines.
It's time someone there at Southern Rail came to their senses... and quickly.
I hope anyone who is able to, will refuse to use Southern Rail, or if they have to use them, that they let the Management Team know that it is being used because there is no other choice... but if there was another choice, you'd choose another company, hands down.

If it was a human that he rescued would he get the same punishment? I would bet the people who are suspending him would feel different if it were thier dog. I wonder how their family would look at it.

what is wrong with people??!! You do a good deed and get punished for saving a life. Sounds like the lifeguard earlier this summer that rescued a swimmer that was just outside of the state park boundries and was fired for leaving the park. Some people just need the shit slapped out of them!!!!!!!
