Stuff Southern Rail Tom, you will probably get a better job, who would want to work for a bunch of heartless jobsworths anyway!

A heroic & compassionate act towards an endangered animal, especially one concerning animal welfare & where rescue efforts were made, should be rewarded, not punished. Like the wise & compassionate Mahatma Gandhi was once quoted as saying, "The greatness of a nation & its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." This makes me wonder what this extremely knowledgeable man would say about a few corporate individuals who thought that their employee should have neglected...

Like the wise & compassionate Mahatma Gandhi was once quoted as saying, "The greatness of a nation & its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." This makes me wonder what this extremely knowledgeable man would say about a few corporate individuals who thought that their employee should have neglected an endangered animal and left him/her there to die a cruel & painful death? Or what he'd say about a company that punished or admonished an obvious act of heroism & compassion towards an endangered animal. Clearly, Tom should be rewarded and/or praised for his actions, not the other way around. The fact that he rescued this poor animal despite the possibility of losing his job in these troubling economic times, says a lot about this man & I believe that his compassionate deed should be acknowledged and praised! It's more than evident that he did the right thing & I personally think that it's quite sad & disconcerting that anyone would think the opposite.

GIVE TOM A MEDAL NOT A P45. Complete madness! What do Southern Rail want Tom to do? Sit there and watch the train go over the tiny dog, listen to the poor pup's agonising wail then leave it there for further.
trains to run over, having an excruciatingly painful death? TOM YOU ARE A HERO.

I'm fed up with people being threatened with the sack just because they show compassion and initiative, why is this country trying to turn everyone into obedient mindless zombies? I think Tom is an inspiration to us all and should be praised for his actions. He is what all Brits should aspire to be; kind, compassionate and selfless. Well done Tom, you done well.

Well done Tom ! Nice to see a decent human being rescuing an animal especially in todays society where all you hear is animals being mistreated.
