GOD BLESS AMERICA! Yes, I believe in this cause and think we should bring back the Honor of God, and our Flag, at school's , in public, and at ALL National Ceremonies! We use to Honor God, with a Prayer each and every morning at our schools, right after the Honor of our Flag, when I use to go to school, and it never hurt anyone, or anything. It not only shows Respect to our God, and our Flag, but to all we believe in.As someone said,"we don't mind spending Money that has ""IN GOD WE TRUST",...

Look these quotes up. From our forefathers:

"Religious controversies are always productive of more acrimony and irreconcilable hatreds than those which spring from any other cause. Of all the animosities which have existed among mankind, those which are caused by the difference of sentiments in religion appear to be the most inveterate and distressing, and ought most to be depreciated. I was in hopes that the enlightened and liberal policy, which has marked the present age, would at least...

Of all the animosities which have existed among mankind, those which are caused by the difference of sentiments in religion appear to be the most inveterate and distressing, and ought most to be depreciated. I was in hopes that the enlightened and liberal policy, which has marked the present age, would at least have reconciled Christians of every denomination so far that we should never again see the religious disputes carried to such a pitch as to endanger the peace of society." - George Washington.

"We discover in the gospels a groundwork of vulgar ignorance, of things impossible, of superstition, fanaticism and fabrication." - Thomas Jefferson.

"On the dogmas of re
ligion, as distinguished from moral principles, all mankind, from the beginning of the world to this day, have been quarreling, fighting, burning and torturing one another, for abstractions unintelligible to themselves and to all others, and absolutely beyond the comprehension of the human mind." - Thomas Jefferson.

"History, I believe, furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free civil government. This marks the lowest grade of ignorance, of which their political as well as religious leaders will always avail themselves for their own purpose." - Thomas Jefferson.

"Shake off all the fears of servile prejudices, under which weak minds are servilely crouched. Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call on her tribunal for every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason than that of blindfolded fear. - Thomas Jefferson.

"As I understand the Christian religion, it was, and is, a revelation. But how has it happened that millions of fables, tales, legends, have been blended with both Jewish and Christian revelation that have made them the most bloody religion that ever existed?" - John Adams.

"I almost shudder at the thought of alluding to the most fatal example of the abuses of grief which the history of mankind has preserved-- the Cross. Consider what calamities that engine of grief has produced!" - John Adams.

"The divinity of Jesus is made a convenient cover for absurdity. Nowhere in the Gospels do we find a precept for Creeds, Confessions, Oaths, Doctrines, and whole cartloads of other foolish trumpery that we find in Christianity." - John Adams (our second president).

My personal favorite: "The question before the human race is, whether the God of Nature shall govern the world by his own laws, or whether priests and kings shall rule it by fictitious miracles?" - John Adams.

"I think vital religion has always suffered when orthodoxy is more regarded than virtue. The scriptures assure me that at the last day we shall not be examined on what we thought but what we did." - Benjamin Franklin AMEN TO THIS!

"Of all the tyrannies that affect mankind, tyranny in religion is the worst." - Thomas Paine.

"Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half of the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we call it the word of a demon than the word of God. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind." - Thomas Paine.

"Take away from Genesis the belief that Moses was the author, on which only the strange belief that it is the word of God has stood, and there remains nothing of Genesis but an anonymous book of stories, fables, and traditionary or invented absurdities, or of downright lies." - Thomas Paine.

"Religious bondage shackles and debilitates the mind and unfits it for every noble enterprise." - James Madison.

"The purpose of separation of church and state is to keep forever from these shores the ceaseless strife that has soaked the soil of Europe in blood for centuries." - James Madison.

And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul? Our country needs to turn back to God. There's no wonder that we as Americans are in the shape we're in. And as far as flying our flag goes if that offends you, then maybe you should move to another country.

Jefferson was a deep believer in Jesus as his savior. He ended his letters with acknowledgement of Christ. So, take your cherry picking basket of half truths to market. You can't sell them here.

Shawn, America has a Constitution . Have you ever read it? American's really need to re- read it. It is what made "America". I know that this is a free country for all. It is a melting pot. But God is everyone's Father. God is why America is America. That is what I mean.

Why would I support superstition in the schools? An education should involve only those subjects supported by empirical evidence. Which god do you mean? Zeus, Jupiter, Thor, Mithra, Allah, Yahweh, or Santa? We had a 1000 years of theocracies in government. It was called The Dark Ages for a reason. Shall we also burn scientists at the stake because that's what theocracies gave us. If you wish to remain ignorant and superstitious, fine. Just don't pass your myths and superstitions off as fact in a school setting.

Ed - Your an ignorant fool. Atheism is not what advanced our civilization nor has it played a prominent role in science. Every major discovery about our natural world was advanced by a man of God. It was the people's religion that ended the Dark Ages. The Roman Empire accepted Jesus as savior and gave up their many deities. These things must be taught in schools everywhere. Learn the difference between superstition and religion as our children should.

Ed. I would much rather keep a faith in God that I believe holds me accountable for my actions in the end then live my life without the hope of seeing a better world. @Ron Kranz your ignorant comment gave me cancer. Saying that men of god are the only ones that move us forward is the most ignorant thing. I'm not saying that there haven't been christains that have advanced us in life; but you can't really believe that it has only been christains can you? Religion, for the most part, teaches us to be to be intolerant. Not the Religion itself, but the ones who preach it. I for one full agree with Ed. If religion is to me in school what religion should it be?...
