I joined the ranks of the enfeebled a few years ago and will have a flu jab in a couple of weeks as a precaution. I believe that the jab only protects against a few strains of influenza and I suppose the injecion is better than nothing. Will science be able to produce a flu for the people who cannot have one because of an allergy risk? I believe that eggs are used in the culture for the production of the jabs and that people who have an allergy to eggs should therefore not have a flu jab. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I been getting the flu shots for the last six years and I got to tell you;it's the best thing I ever did, I never got the flu in the in all that time, so as far as I'm concerned everyone should have the flu shots.

I suggest that every Senior Citizen that gets a flu shot gets the same flu shot that others get and not take the one that is specified for "Medicare recipiants only". It is suspicous to me why thare would be a special one for Medicare patients! "just sayin"

Sorry,.. I'm not sure this is the way to go,.. I've Never had a Flu Shot and in my mid-50's,.. vaccines soon could be mandatory and that may not be the Best choice,... different Bacteria killer's may be a Better solution!

I always get mine! With having C.O.P.D. it is a must. A bad case of the flu could be fatal to me.

Influenza is a virus, not bacteria, and there are very few effective treatments for influenza. Prevention is by far the best, , safest, cheapest and most effective option.

I'll stick with research by people who know what they are talking about, and recommend for your own health that you do the same.

Never!!! I will not expose my body to countless chemicals to receive a shot that is made from LAST YEARS FLU....I will eat well...take vitamin D3..lots of vitamin C....garlic capsules....etc....the flu shot ifff used should only be in extreme cases when someone can not for severe health reasons get sick like elderly ....even then their is no garreetee that it is not hurting more than helping...

There are no guarantees in life, but influenza kills thousands of people every year. Even if you feel fine you could still be passing the flu on to someone who could die from it. The vaccine doesn't work well in the elderly so the best way for the elderly to protect themselves is to not be around unvaccinated people.

Catherina Becker

actually, the best way for the elderly to protect themselves is for them and their grandkids to have had the flu shot

Sorry. I do not support the Flu SHOT. I am 52 and have NEVER had one and I have NEVER gotten the FLU.
DO more research on the BAD effects of getting them... oh wait, the AMA does not probably give that information out....

This site has a statement on the first page that says, "There is no scientific controversy about the safety or effectiveness of vaccines. This Cause is..." How is that so? There is very much controversary reference the flu shot! Go to www.phmiracleliving.com and then say that there are no controversaries about flu shots! Go to Article section and type in" flu" or "vaccination," etc.

Daniel Weinstein

The statement didn't say there was no controversy. It said there is no *scientific* controversy. There is also no medical controversy. While there are plenty of anti-vaccine activists who would like to stir up a controversy, the science says that the vaccine is safe and relatively effective.

Probably no less than drinking 3 pH sodas with sugar all day long. Or highly processed foods that cause severely low pH's, hence, diseases. There is NO scientific evidence that flu shots stop the flu! The negative side of vaccines far outweigh any positive effects on the body. The shots are acidic. BTW, have you cared to see a scientific perspective of Dr. Robert Young's, a dedicated microbiologist, with decades of research behind him? I would like to hear your take on the articles concerning flu and other vaccines.

I am now 47. I've never had a flu shot and I've never had the flu. Lucky? Not sure, but I sure don't like the idea of getting one.

I am required to get a flu shot or wear a surgical mask at the hospital where I work, and as a chaplain, I think people would find me wearing a mask while ministering to them a little off-putting. The shot this year did cause more side effects, probably because I also was suffering from allergies when I got the shot, but a couple days of mild fatigue and achiness is worth it if it means I am less likely to spread the flu to a vulnerable population.

if you wore the mask you could draw a big smile on it - to cover no matter you feel ;-)
