It's good to rescue a dog, but not at your own expense, i.e. court times, fines & tires.

To David Felter and Skip Grove:

Sometimes we DO have to put ourselves on the line in order to save/free/speak out for helpless victims who cannot speak out/defend themselves. I would definitely do whatever it took to free a helpless child or animal in a dangerous or life threatening situation.

We are all human (at least most of us). It is easy for emotions to take over on such a subject. We can do more by keeping our credibility and by getting things done in a legal manner.

David Felter I'm sure that you were joking that's a bit drastic but breaking a window is not and in some states as in mine (Florida) it is permissible Human or animal.

This Is Just Plain Common Sense Not To Leave Your Pet Locked In A Car With The Windows Up!

even with windows open it gets unbelievably hot in a car in the sun. unless windows are open such that the dog can escape (and, one would hopr) becoming road kill, open windows don't help.
in the heat of summer, how long would yo bew comfortablein a car with windows open?

Joan Capobianco

  • William Bingham

Kathi Potter It takes much less time for an animal to die due to the arising heat. We sweat, they don't. By the time we would be frustrated or sweating, the animal would be dead.

It is truly a shame that some people do not have common sense, and must be reminded.

Adele Sutton

Right Charlotte If everyone is aware that COMMON SENSE "IS NOT COMMON" espeically in todays society, we would all think twice. I would first call 911 if they did not respond in time I would break the window then at least its on record that you made an attempt to get help Just like seeing someone in a burning building IF it were safe for you to help you would not stand by and wait till the fire consumed everything before you would act.
Keep doing the good work Causes

Too many people don't have common sense! I have called 911 several times and even taken license # and turned them in. I wait for the person(s) to come out and go from there. Been a couple of close calls.... If they had a gun, they would have shot me..

My friend and I saved 2 small dogs trapped in a vehicle last weekend. I called animal control and they came out to check on the dogs. By the time I had noticed the dogs and the animal control showed up it had been more than 40 min! The dogs were ok and the owner rec'd a fine! It's crazy though when I first went back into the store I had been in to ask if they could make an announcement regarding the dogs, the first question they asked was "Well, are the windows down?" Just break the window and then you can make a call to the police to report it. Be sure to pour water over the dog... if possible so wet towels or blankets in cold water to wrap around the dog. Naturally, the dog also liquid up.

If it is over 72 out.. then it will be over 105 in my truck... my dog stays home.. and if it is under 50.. he stays home.. If I have a lot of shopping to do... he stays home.. I love my little guy that much... I agree if I see a dog in a car EVEN with cracked window.. I try to find the owner.. if it is over 15-20 mins.. I will call the police.. your dog loves ou.. love them back.

Yes, I would've broken the window to get the baby out and an animal in distress like that.....I live out in the sticks and would probably have to break the window for ANY animal in car like that. It would take to long for county police to get there.
