I spoke with civilian firefighters when I was overseas. They were paid $180,000 EACH per YEAR--tax free to put out the fires when we were mortared...why can't we help the UNITED STATES CITIZENS the way we have helped Iraq and Afghanistan?
Thanks, Suzanne. I'd missed this petition. I've signed and continue with prayers for the most benevolent outcome for all.
I think we need more in CA too, safe is no Joke.
Please take immediate action. IT will cost more to replace than to stop the problem/FIRES and to prevent when possible. I agree with John Cohen, more planes NOW! GOVERNMENT & PRESIDENT PLEASE GET YOUR PRIORITIES & INTERESTS & MONEY IN THE RIGHT ORDER. SAVE THE LAND BEING BURNED AND THE HOMES AND PEOPLES PROPERTIES. USE THE UNUSED PLANES, MANY OF THEM & SPEND THE MONEY ON A VERY WORTHWHILE CAUSE! SHOW YOU CARE ABOUT THIS COUNTRY AND HER PEOPLE!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
I'm from Tunisia and living in Saudi Arabia and the most important is we are all human being, sharing the same air, soil present and future...investing in the required equipments to fight fire and avoid earth and people disasters should be the priority of all governments...my land won't be safe if yours is not safe.
THANK YOU AND GOD FOR PEOPLE LIKE YOU. SOMETIMES GOVERMENTS DOESN'T DO WHAT THEY WERE VOTED IN FOR ,SO WE RELIE ON GOD ,PRAYER AND HUMAN KIND TO ENTERCEDE. BLESS YOU.
Omar Chtioui, Obama will not listen to us little people. Is there any chance you can write to him maybe with Gods Blessing he will listen to you. We have those Helicopters and planes in our military , stock. They are used for training and for hauling congressmen, senators and diplomats all over the country. What better training for pilots than to learn while doing. Please contact Obama, he will listen to you before he will listen to me. Thank you and bless you my friend.
This is a national disgrace. Hundreds of billions of dollars have been spent on Air Force planes which will never see action. Our national priorities are totally askew. We don't need seven more air tankers to fight wildfires, we need a hundred. It is time to spend money wisely on interests important to the people, to serve the people. No more scorched earth policies while the Pentagon budget runs amuck and we fight endless wars overseas. Invest some of the savings in a hundred new air...

My thoughts exactly!
why not 200 or 300 more air tankers? it not like they are not needed!!!!!!!
THIS issue is one of the most serious we need to deal with in great urgency. Get to it, no matter what side of the aisle you sit on...if everything burns up while you sit around with your fingers up your butts trying to blow bubbles...OH WAIT....then you can apply for disaster funds! This country is not prepared for fighting a war on firestorms. Think about that tonight and tomorrow.....
Bobj - I love your delicate way of putting things!
it seems my post to the ill informed Mr. John Cohen has disappeared.
yes we need more Heavy tankers to fight fires. but don't blame the DOD they didn't cause this issue. The blame belongs right in the Oval Office.
oh this "joker" goes to USC Santa Cruz so he's been spending way too much time listening to his professors than people in the real world. He even still believes in Global warming after all the data has been debunked as being faked
TAKE CARE OF OUR COUNTRY, WHILE WE STILL HAVE A COUNTRY, IT IS TIME FOR THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TO COME FIRST ON THE LIST, GIVE US MORE WATER TANKERS TO FIGHT OUR PROBLEMS HERE AT HOME, ASK THE OTHER COUNTRIES TO HELP US IN RETURN THAT WE DO ALL FOR THEEM FOR A CHANGE, LETS SEE WHAT KIND OF RESPONSE WE GET.
Yeah right AURIE , THE KIND OF HELP WE ALWAYS GET !!!!!
The reduction in disaster response is part of the package we got when we voted in the the no new revenues, tax reduction, government shutdown, specialists. Thar is especially the House of Reps. When we "accept risk" by cutting disaster services the we have to accept the results. It is just like your budget at home.
I'm not signing this petition. I was simply responding to the sky is falling comments that I saw on that posting. The Forest Service and National Parks have been a favorite targets of budget cutters for years. You get what you pay for (or not). That is why people have the right to buy fire insurance or not. Right?
