Change happens over time. There is no doubt that Canada will eventually introduce laws similar to those in the U.S. where the labelling of type and origin of all imported fur is a legal requirement. But public pressure MUST be brought to bear. Change happens over time. There is no doubt that Canada will eventually introduce laws similar to those in the U.S. where the labelling of type and origin of all imported fur is a legal requirement. But public pressure MUST be brought to bear. It is the hope of the majority of decent humans who regard all animals as sentient beings that eventually, ALL FUR TRADE WILL BE OUTLAWED....and I have no doubt that time will come. In the meantime, we take baby steps...and each small victory is a step in the right direction. Be patient, but be determined. Sign petitions, send emails, share with friends, and make your disapproval, displeasure and disgust at the Chinese meat trade slaughtering cats and dogs for food, and at the opportunistic behaviour of the Canadian government to sanction the import of "cheap" dog and cat furs as a bi-product of that meat trade, ABUNDANTLY CLEAR. IT SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED, JUST AS THE CULL OF SEALS FOR FUR SHOULD NOT BE TOLERATED, AND ONLY BY MAKING A LOT OF NOISE WILL THE CANADIAN GOVERNMENT LISTEN.......THE GOVERNMENTS SERVE THE PEOPLE, AND THE PEOPLE MUST SPEAK. Thankyou, Kx

It's not a slur on Canadians....there are different attitudes around the world, even different states within USA have different laws on hunting etc. It's about us, and what we find acceptable. Once upon a time, it was O.K. to have slaves, or for women to be owned by their husbands....everything changes gradually, and for the better, so long as people speak out. Kx

They need more animal activists in China to fight for better treatment of animals. They are a very cruel race toward animals. Animals all over the world are being wiped out because of their ridiculous beliefs. Rhinos and elephants are being killed by poachers for their tusks which are sent to China for medicinal purposes. The Amazon is being destroyed and cleared to plant trees to provide palm oil to China, what hope do the Orang utans have. I am glad that I won't be around to see the demise of this planet.

I think that the world should boycott all countries that allow their citizens such cruelty. Cease all trade relations and setting penalties, and to require the termination of all kinds of turnover relating to the abuse of animals, and also the adoption of laws about cruel treatment with animals. Veto in the country and monitor the implementation of obligations

We should boycott all goods coming from China. How they treat all animals for purpose of exploitation is horrendous. Please support animal welfare groups like Animals Asia http://www.animalsasia.org/ and http://www.koreananimals.org/index.htm These in country animal welfare groups know the politics and are there to monitor and educate. They really need support. Defense of Animals and World Society for Protection of Animals are also on top of the dog/cat meat and food trade in the Philippines and all Southeast Asia.
