A book feels right in your hands...anywhere.

I already have a card, and I use my library every week, I think the new borrowing/returning books system takes some of the 'personal' touch away however, there's not nearly as much interaction with the staff now, & I feel that that's a great shame, as the staff play an important part.

I work at our local library. The hardest thing for me is restricting the number of books I check out! My kids are avid readers; I'm the mom who has to take the flashlights away at 2am. Libraries are great for accessing internet, computer usage, lending of books, cds, dvds, audiobooks. It's a great place to meet people who share your interest in reading. My fav library service in Inter Library Loans - if our local library doesn't have it, they order it from another library! Libraries are the cornerstone of healthy and vibrant communities.

I am a qualified librarian and I love reading and also encourage reading culture in my organisation for research and development.

One of the first things I did when I moved, was to find the local library and get a card. I've been an avid reader all my life and have very fond memories of my childhood library, where I would sit and read and dream and learn... Unfortunately, in the Age of Distraction, the ability of getting lost in a story is becoming all too rare.

I actually already have one, and almost always do...

Library cards are free but libraries are invaluable. Through the simple act of getting a library card you are showing that libraries are still being used in turn keeping the doors open. Thanks for reading.
