I can't remember when I DIDN'T have a library card! We also have an extensive library at our house ~ books are among my most cherished possessions. Buy books for your kids and read to them from Day One! It will benefit them and you!!
There was a time in India when, along with big govt libraries, small public libraries run on the initiative and enterprise of a few individuals operated on shoestring budgets. they no longer exist; their death has been hastened by the invasion of the e-book! Remember Isaac Asimov's "The Fun They Had"? Books are BOOKS. An e-book is not a book, you don't get the same pleasure as when you hold an actual book, made of and printed on paper in your hands! Congrats Mark Randolph! Do keep the BOOK alive in real libraries.
Nothing is good or bad. Reading is very good, much better than what our youth is doing now a days.
And yes! Paper must live!
Love the photocopying facilities!
I currently have a library card and I've had one continuously since I was 5 years old.
I have a card, but I will sign.
