My mother is a retired librarian. I was read to before I could even walk, and before she was working as a librarian, we still went to the public library on a weekly basis.

Here in Holland, libraries are in "danger" too. They close libraries because there are lesser people who take a card, a lot have an e-reader now. I like the "old" way of reading. By a real book. I have a e-reader too, but I only use it when I go to hospital or in the car, so I have something to read and don't have a bag full of books. But when I use my e-reader I'm missing something. It doesn't read so nice as a normal book.
Glad enough I've a library card already, but it's good that libraries stay open!

A library plays a very important role in promoting the progress of knowledge. No-one should doubt the importance of children's libraries to children all over the world. The 21st century has brought many challenges and many opportunities and every child should be familiar and comfortable with their local library and public library services.
