I prefer real books I love holding and turning a page and the smell and cover of each one, there is nothing like the look of a real book with beautiful writing on each page to make me want to look after and care for that book like a lost friend..a electronic book or anything on a screen does not have the same appeal to me..
I can't see the need for electronic "books". The humble real book is fine. Irreplaceable in my view. Electronic books for the disabled is one thing but other than that, I just can't see the need.
Margo, I feel the same about music. Nothing like holding a physical album in your hand and having the cover art or having a box set. Long live real books and real albums!
K agree Peter I have LPs ans Singles and CDs I just like to physically hold certain things as it makes feel like I am actually doing something, otherwise I would feel that everything is to easy or lazy..
Our children are already sorely lacking in reading skills. I credit my love of reading to helping me be successful in school and life.
I grew up with my dad taking me to the library at an early age and 40 years on I am still going there at least twice a week. I also do computer courses there. The Kindle is a nuisance and will only help towards shutting down the libraries and putting decent people out of work.
E-Reader's are nice, howvever, there is nothing like the smell of a book!
You bet! and the feel of paper, not metal, in your hands. Though I admit they're GREAT for older people, whose eyesight & memories just ain't what it use to be--my now nearly-blind uncle can read the BOOKS he had accumulated over 5 decades...Namaste, and may the light be always POIFECT for us to READ! xoxo
I have one do you?
Books are the best................
Yesterday I was browsing the local Library website for some books.
I have a library card and its my prize item.
E-Reader's are nice and useful but books are windows into the imaginations our kids need to open them to open their minds Libraries are homes to the books without them kids have no where to go and find the book, read the book and now libraries home maps newspapers, computers, and film.
I still read books! Love all kinds of subjects and I can't get enough of them. I believe a book is better, because at least with a book you can save your page and not have to recharge to finish reading your story. I would hate for books to disappear in our childrens generation.
