There is nothing I hate more then when I see a child on the mothers lap in the front of the motor vehicle or the child standing between the the front seats... parents are stripped in and there stands the child.....

Some people just won't listen. I bludgeoned it into my kids' minds, only way i could protect them when others drove them and ha-ha'd about wearing a seatbelt. Worse still is when the kid sits on the (mother's) lap and they put the belt around them both - not a Chance of survival then for the poor kid!

I don't want to argue with you because you are right but the poll means specifically when parents have used a car seat or booster seat and not strapped the kid in properly. I don't think they mean generally driving with children recklessly dotted about in the car. But you make a good point I'm just saying!!

I'm a traffic policeman and in my duty, when I find that situation, if I don't wish to give a ticket, often ask them if the child is their's. It doesn't seams their child because of the way they are transporting their son.

I always told my children when they learned to drive. A car is not a toy. You have everyone on the roads life at stake. try to visuialize yourself driving each car. Be cautious, and be courteous.

Children depend on parents and those who care for them to make sure they are safe at all times.

Loud music coming from a car. It is disturbing the peace. It is rude. It is dangerous. It is not friendly.

that is a scary fact, considering that things happen even when they are properly restrained. On 1-6-09 my 5 year old daughter died in a car accident. My ex husband was driving them (my oldest son who was 7, my daughter who was 5, himself & his wife) home from a MSU basketball game in Lansing Michigan. The roads were icy and he was on a stretch of I-96 East near the Howell exit. It happens to be up on a hill and the highway curves there as well. Even though there is about a 20 foot slope...

that is a scary fact, considering that things happen even when they are properly restrained. Even though there is about a 20 foot slope just off the shoulder of the highway there is not a guardrail. He was only traveling between 30 & 35 mph (the investigation proved this as well as witnesses). He was driving in the right lane & as he reached the top of the hill & the middle of the curve, he hit a patch of black ice. At that point the SUV slid and there was no guardrail to stop it from going over the edge. As soon as the truck hit the shoulder it started to roll. Heres the problem: when you swerve or stop quickly your seatbelt locks into place, its a safety feature. If you stop quickly your body comes forward, and then it locks into place. My little girl was in the proper booster and it was properly fastened. We actually go to those events when the State Police check your car seats. When his SUV slid on the ice Danica came forward in her seat and then the seatbelt locked. When the truck started to roll there was way too much slack in the seatbelt to restrain her and on the first roll she came out of her booster and died immediately from head injuries. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT MY DAUGHTER WAS IN THE CORRECT BOOSTER FOR HER AGE, HEIGHT, & WEIGHT! HER DAD WAS DOING EVERYTHING HE COULD TO HAVE A SAFE DRIVE HOME. EVEN IF YOUR CHILD IS "BIG" ENOUGH FOR A BOOSTER WITHOUT THE 5 POINT HARNESS, KEEP THEM IN IT AS LONG AS YOU CAN! I KNOW THEY WANT TO BE "BIG KIDS" BUT IN ORDER TO DO THAT THEY HAVE TO BE "SAFE KIDS"! Thanks for giving me the time to get this off my chest!
