There is nothing I hate more then when I see a child on the mothers lap in the front of the motor vehicle or the child standing between the the front seats... parents are stripped in and there stands the child.....

Some people just won't listen. I bludgeoned it into my kids' minds, only way i could protect them when others drove them and ha-ha'd about wearing a seatbelt. Worse still is when the kid sits on the (mother's) lap and they put the belt around them both - not a Chance of survival then for the poor kid!

I don't want to argue with you because you are right but the poll means specifically when parents have used a car seat or booster seat and not strapped the kid in properly. I don't think they mean generally driving with children recklessly dotted about in the car. But you make a good point I'm just saying!!

I'm a traffic policeman and in my duty, when I find that situation, if I don't wish to give a ticket, often ask them if the child is their's. It doesn't seams their child because of the way they are transporting their son.

I hate to see teens die so young because of recklessness and a moment of indiscretion , they should start their lives not end it.. please be responsible,,,

it is SAD that too many young children are thrown from vehichles in crashes and severly injured or die due to not using seat belts or child restraints correctly. In an actual ROLL OVER accident, people and children not buckled in are actually ran over by their own flying vehichle because the vehichle usually is tossed the same way as the person flies from vehichle. Do your research, BUCKLE UP CORRECTLY! It just may save the life of a family member!

I used to drive a taxi which had a child seat. One of my most incredulous memories is when a mother and her child got in the car and I was getting out the carseat and she was disparaging towards me for it and I said "We can either use it or you can get another taxi." She was angry as hell at me. And so many times when I had to wait a LONG time with parents saying "it's all right; he doesn't like wearing a seat belt" and me saying "That's fine. But I'm not moving this cab one inch until your child has his seatbelt on."

I was a wee bit more sensitive than that. They thought they were being "good parents" because they were giving in to the wants of their child, not realizing how badly they were spoiling them. A simple explanation to a child works wonders 9 chances out of 10. Every single one of them ended up being secured correctly and we went. At least one parent/adult exclaimed one time "I can't believe he put his seatbelt on!" (in one of the cases where I had to explain to the child why I wanted him to...

A simple explanation to a child works wonders 9 chances out of 10. Every single one of them ended up being secured correctly and we went. At least one parent/adult exclaimed one time "I can't believe he put his seatbelt on!" (in one of the cases where I had to explain to the child why I wanted him to put the seatbelt on instead of the adult he was with doing it). The usual excuse was "It doesn't matter. We're just going a short distance ..." And of course, the rare, random crazy drivers careening out of control on a road ALWAYS respect the fact that you're just going a short distance and will purposefully veer away from you...

Driving is a privilege that comes with great responsibility. I think when we drive the same route everyday, we eventually find ourselves switching to auto pilot and allowing our minds to wander. As a result, we may become less attentive to potential dangers around us.

what really scares me is when a teen has learned to ride a motorcycle in a week or so and risks doing stunts like a pro who he/she saw in tv without inquaring first or getting lessons from teachers or tutors.
