I live in Zimbabwe where our Rhino population is protected as much as possible but due to the Eastern influx here with the embassies and related businesses that our government welcome (no doubt getting a kick back for doing so) poaching still happens and I recently learnt that Zambian poachers came across Lake Kariba and MURDERED (killed is too mild a word) Chewore and one other adult Rhino a few years back. Our children were lucky enough to meet Chewore when she had been rescued after her...

Our children were lucky enough to meet Chewore when she had been rescued after her Mother died due to poachers in the early 1990's and to now learn that she has suffered the same fate is heart-breaking. There has been talk of injecting the horn with a poison which will kill people who ingest it but not harm the animal. The horn would then be painted a fluorescent color as a warning to would-be poachers. However, when corrupt governments keep their population in dire poverty you can understand why these people resort to poaching in order to exist!
