In the bible it says that God made us "Stewards" of the earth meaning we are here to take care of the planet and it's inhabitants. Not to destroy it!

It ain't about us having clean veg & fruit, without the bees & other pollinators, we wouldn't have the fruit & veg.

One thing you will want to consider - some vegetables and fruits are sprayed numerous times (can be up to 15 - 20 sprays). These sprays don't just sit on the surface - they are absorbed into the flesh of the crop. So any amount of washing cannot remove it all and you will be ingesting those pesticides and herbicides, of which they are known to be cancer forming or hormone disrupters. If you are concerned about sprays, your best bet is to buy only organically grown food crops.

It astounds me that we even need a petition on something so fundamental to our existence.

If we worked at only a fraction of the intensity that honeybees do, we'd be a much better society.

Honeybees and Bumblebees are the ones that pollinate the flowers. If any bees should be forced into extinction, it should be those black wasps and yellow jacket!

Isn't it horrible to think that mankind has yet another means to make life worse for people and for the natural world? Man's greed and cruelty show their ugly heads again and again, whether it's about poisoning seawater and freshwater with plastic, oil, chemical waste, radioactive poisons, spilled oil, fuel waste or just general pollution. Or global warming. Or the vile idea of supplying third-world countries with genetically engineered crops that, although they are resistant to insects and generally very healthy, are sterile, and so need to be replaced with their own kind, at hugely inflated costs to these poor people. Or the unthinkable business of supplying politically unstable countries with weapons, and then, if necessary, helping them to find reasons to use them, just so that more can be sold. I'm getting less and less proud of being a human being- and mostly because of the actions of a few greasy, greedy individuals.

You hit the nail on the head, we need honey bees for a variety of reasons, us for the honey for health and also for our flowers etc.
