The arts is where we explore creativity and humanity. Both of which are essential to a productive, safe and healthy society. It's not about art it's about being human. Perhaps, those that feel football, etc. is more vital than the arts to school children, want zombies, not people, to grow in this land of ours.

For 11 years and I believe that the students excelled in all their classes because I was able to incorporate language arts, math, history, science, and other subjects in their music classes. I only stopped teaching because I got multiple sclerosis and was unable to teach anymore. The arts arts are so important for the students and should not be taken away because they give the students so much more knowledge on so many levels.

I totally support the arts. That's where all of our amazingly talented young people get thier start. Whether they be actor, composer, in an orchestra, or sing, most of them will get their start in these classes. Even the kids that don't do one of these it offers them a way to get scholarships for college. It offers our young people hope in a place that doesn't alway offer them hope.

As an art teacher for more than 25 years, I can say that based on the number of students who have stayed in touch with me. They all have jobs in the arts! The arts are also a source of economic strength in all communities.

I support the promotion of The Arts in schools. Those who have received God given talents must be afforded room for development and expression. Taking The Arts out of Education would create frustration and depression for many students endowed with God given talents.

The arts are what give certain talented people the abilities and confidence to master the various forms of the arts, with which they are able to inspire and entertain millions of other people and often lift them out of the humdrum of everyday life into the light and sometime fantastic realm of hope and joy.
