Why do we have to go to China or other countries to adope a child. They are plenty in the US needing homes. Why do we not take care of these homeless children here at home first and then go other countries later?"
beause it cost too muh and a whole lot of red tape, i'm guessing!
I agree but the orpans in china are usually killed since they arnt allowed to have more then 1 kid.
It only costs a lot for a white child... Also, here in the states "open adoption" is usually required and a lot of adoptive parents would prefer not to have contact with birth parents even though it is better for the children's mental health in the long run...
Mikayla Fergus That is actually incorrect the children there are not killed but instead the girls are usually traded to the sex trade and the boys are recruited most of the time for military purposes...
your lucky to still have a paying job, not like 25 % of our unemployed whose unemployment insurance has ended, including the millions of homelessness, denied social services reserved for the inner city welfare society who works on presidential election day, once every 4 years, starting early and quitting late making the rounds of ACORN polling stations. The " Cargo " society, like a stone on our head in deep water
It costs plenty to adopt from other countries too...sad.
100% agree, but in Aus :)
Sorry, somehow I don't think a book, security blanket and stuffed animal really addresses the problem. Homes are what is needed, jobs, education...it is a big problem. I do understand this project will do something immediete and helpful and there are simlar projects that provide quilts and pillowcases for kids (Project Linus). Someone once told me about working in a shelter and being asked by a woman for a sheet to go inside a sleeping bag. She wanted something clean to sleep in. There...

Someone once told me about working in a shelter and being asked by a woman for a sheet to go inside a sleeping bag. She wanted something clean to sleep in. There were no sheets, just sleeping bags. Afterthat I made up some silk sleeping bag liners. It sounds expensive but it wasn't. Actually, they caould probabl;y be bought in bulk for about $8=10 and are perfect for homeless peolpe....very small and lightweight, easily cleaned in a public bathroom and dried with the hand dryer on the wall.
I have another idea. Take the tax dollars back from the bankers -- and force them to disgorge their ill-gotten gains. That would amount to a few trillion dollars. After all, that was our money, and many of the homeless today paid some of the taxes that the banksters were given by our corrupt non-representatives in Congress.

It is a shame that we have to cobble together little projects to meet these needs. This is the richest country in the world. We are robbed blind by corporations that buy elections for pocket change are get rewarded with billions. Dismantle the corporate state, build an economy that serves human needs rather than the greed of "Corporate Persons" -- and the homeless will be housed, the hungry fed, and the predators punished.
Cole Miller Are you a communist or Marxist? Keep your redistribution notions in your Democrat hope chest.
I totally agree with what Cole Miller has said. I am neither a communist or a marxist. I am a human being
I think they should also empty their own private Social Security Funds; these supposed "higher up's" have no right to create their own Social Security Plan. They are exactly like everyone else... AMERICANS, who work hard for our money and are in reality the "backbone" of this nation.
Daniel Hutcherson : It may be just an angery response from Millar but in keeping with the American Governments paranoia with Comunists, you fall into the trap of thinking that the concept is bad. It is unworkable, but is from the ideals of fairness to all people, something that your country does not practice. I have been behind the IRON CURTAIN and seen the disaster of the system, and it is because Humanity is selfish.
People don't want to feel like 'charity'. We all need support to be safe and to prosper, and we need to give it to those who are suffering, and lacking, so that they can help themselves. Those who say that the homeless are lazy or crazy clearly have no idea what it's like to experience such disadvantages that leaves a human being homeless.
I don't mean to detract from this grave issue but this is a similar issue I'd like to bring to your attention; I hope you support it. Thank you <3 http:/...

Daniel, do you know how much business we give to Communist China? Your cell phone is made by communists! BTW, what kind of law/ethics do they teach at your 'city university'?
It is so devastating to find out that children experience this. They have no way to fend for themselves. Why has this been allowed to happen? Is this a new issue? May be it not sensational enough for the news to generate
"Each One, Reach One....."
It is definately time that the U.S. starts to help people in their on country. Just last week wen I took my daughter to her appointment on the North SIide I seen about 8 tents underneath the under pass we go under on the bus by Cedar Avenue. I looked at my daughter and said its a shame that people have to live like that!!!!
We are losing the remaining shreds of our national moral high ground by tolerating political, economic and social indifference toward our must vulnerable and valuable asset -- our children. If we judge ourselves by how we treat our most vulnerable folks, we have lost our moral compass. Our lawmakers should be ashamed.
Its bull that the president and charities are more worried about sending our funds for homelessness, starvation, and aids research to other countries when we have all of that going on right here in America. But yet in the time of need where r they when we need them? He is supposed to be the president of the united states not president of the world. And the problem is that every president has been that way.
Ok I feel sorry for children who are homeless, but where are all the family members of all the homeless? If one of my family members were homeless, I would bring them home with me. Could the homeless be do proud not yo let their families know they need help? If the parents are
This is not acceptable we the people will take care of own first,.
Obama has really messed up the economy by raising the taxes on everything. It has to be stopped now.please dont raise the taxes on everything
