Sorry, somehow I don't think a book, security blanket and stuffed animal really addresses the problem. Homes are what is needed, jobs, education...it is a big problem. I do understand this project will do something immediete and helpful and there are simlar projects that provide quilts and pillowcases for kids (Project Linus). Someone once told me about working in a shelter and being asked by a woman for a sheet to go inside a sleeping bag. She wanted something clean to sleep in. There...

Someone once told me about working in a shelter and being asked by a woman for a sheet to go inside a sleeping bag. She wanted something clean to sleep in. There were no sheets, just sleeping bags. Afterthat I made up some silk sleeping bag liners. It sounds expensive but it wasn't. Actually, they caould probabl;y be bought in bulk for about $8=10 and are perfect for homeless peolpe....very small and lightweight, easily cleaned in a public bathroom and dried with the hand dryer on the wall.
I have another idea. Take the tax dollars back from the bankers -- and force them to disgorge their ill-gotten gains. That would amount to a few trillion dollars. After all, that was our money, and many of the homeless today paid some of the taxes that the banksters were given by our corrupt non-representatives in Congress.

It is a shame that we have to cobble together little projects to meet these needs. This is the richest country in the world. We are robbed blind by corporations that buy elections for pocket change are get rewarded with billions. Dismantle the corporate state, build an economy that serves human needs rather than the greed of "Corporate Persons" -- and the homeless will be housed, the hungry fed, and the predators punished.
Cole Miller Are you a communist or Marxist? Keep your redistribution notions in your Democrat hope chest.
I totally agree with what Cole Miller has said. I am neither a communist or a marxist. I am a human being
I think they should also empty their own private Social Security Funds; these supposed "higher up's" have no right to create their own Social Security Plan. They are exactly like everyone else... AMERICANS, who work hard for our money and are in reality the "backbone" of this nation.
Daniel Hutcherson : It may be just an angery response from Millar but in keeping with the American Governments paranoia with Comunists, you fall into the trap of thinking that the concept is bad. It is unworkable, but is from the ideals of fairness to all people, something that your country does not practice. I have been behind the IRON CURTAIN and seen the disaster of the system, and it is because Humanity is selfish.
People don't want to feel like 'charity'. We all need support to be safe and to prosper, and we need to give it to those who are suffering, and lacking, so that they can help themselves. Those who say that the homeless are lazy or crazy clearly have no idea what it's like to experience such disadvantages that leaves a human being homeless.
I don't mean to detract from this grave issue but this is a similar issue I'd like to bring to your attention; I hope you support it. Thank you <3 http:/...

Daniel, do you know how much business we give to Communist China? Your cell phone is made by communists! BTW, what kind of law/ethics do they teach at your 'city university'?
Why do we have to go to China or other countries to adope a child. They are plenty in the US needing homes. Why do we not take care of these homeless children here at home first and then go other countries later?"
beause it cost too muh and a whole lot of red tape, i'm guessing!
I agree but the orpans in china are usually killed since they arnt allowed to have more then 1 kid.
It only costs a lot for a white child... Also, here in the states "open adoption" is usually required and a lot of adoptive parents would prefer not to have contact with birth parents even though it is better for the children's mental health in the long run...
Mikayla Fergus That is actually incorrect the children there are not killed but instead the girls are usually traded to the sex trade and the boys are recruited most of the time for military purposes...
your lucky to still have a paying job, not like 25 % of our unemployed whose unemployment insurance has ended, including the millions of homelessness, denied social services reserved for the inner city welfare society who works on presidential election day, once every 4 years, starting early and quitting late making the rounds of ACORN polling stations. The " Cargo " society, like a stone on our head in deep water
It costs plenty to adopt from other countries too...sad.
100% agree, but in Aus :)
I cant image the stigma of being homeless and a child to boot - in this country no child should ever be without food, shelter. clothing and someone to love them.
I agree that we need to take care of the children here first and then go elsewhere. We do this with other things as well. We need to start here first.
No child should be homeless and hungry in the richest nation on this planet. No child's parent should have to lose their jobs to a competitor in another country. No US government representative should give breaks to a company who ships jobs overseas. They should tax the heck out of the companies that put our workers and their family in the bread line.
Charity begins at home..

Donations of camping gear, blankets, toiletry items, clothing, shoes, toilet paper, feminine products--all those essentials that we take for granted every day--are welcome. For more information, you can contact me via facebook at www.facebook.com/BaysideHomelessMinistry. Thank you!
if I could help every child in the world I would, but I will try and help the ones I can in our country!
The VOTING PUBLIC need to have a voice once again in the so-callled democratic West! Let's start holding these shafting politicos to account - like the the 'ordinary people' did in oppressed Eastern Europe. I'm thinking firing squads......It would certainly concentrate their minds!
we need to bring back the jobs the republican sent to china insure better family life for all.
