Electricy burns and destroy... ask any professional and qualified electricians...Whether you use anesthetics or not, it burns and kills cells...Why do you think you stop children from putting their fingers in plugs. My step brother burn his fingers with a 12 V car battery...So I do not see how something that burns and destroy can improve anything... This is rather and highly stupid...So saying ECT helps is like saying is like saying that dip a body in boiling water helps cure diseases. it is as insane and criminal and NAZI methods

Many people are forced to receive electroshock Obsa Mami and many of them are elderly women. For many others it is used as a threat if they are not happy with the 'mental health' system. This is now way to heal wounded people.

It helped and hurt me. Took away 80% of 7 years of daily suicidal ideation, but also really hurt me cognitivly, attention span shot, cant retain info, etc.

People deserve to have better ways to help them to want to be alive and content in this world.

Abusing a woman can "help" her turn into a loyal wife. You can tie a person to a bed for the rest of her life and prevent suicide 100%. I know I'm using hyperbole, because when something so outrageously wrong cannot be seen hyperboles come in handy. ECT is abuse, torture, and is not based on medicine nor science but on tyranny of psychiatry, junk science, pseudoscience, and abuse of a false authority. You are better off getting hit on the head with a bat. Probably that can prevent suicidal ideation 85% and the "treatment" can be free.

You all are acting like we are FORCED to do this.... I made a choice folks. This isn't 1952.

I received ECT 17 years ago whilst I was suffering from puerperal psychosis after the birth of my much wanted son. At the time hospitalisation, medication and therapy were all doing me no good. ECT put me back on the road to recovery. I had a tiny amount of memory loss which pales into insignificance as getting my life back was the best outcome. I for one am grateful for the treatment. I am certainly not a vegetable and have been able to live a happy and fulfilled life ever since. I even...

I am certainly not a vegetable and have been able to live a happy and fulfilled life ever since. I even wrote a book - 'Eyes without Sparkle - a journey through postnatal illness'. Where ECT is used effectively it can be a 'life-saver'.

It seems you were on psycotropic drug for "puerperial psychosis". If so you may have suffered toxic psychosis, which is a iatrogenic (medical inflicted) disease. On the other hand, the value you give to memory loss is subjective and the fact that you are not a vegetable does not validate ECT as a bona fide medical treatment. Some people deal with their emotional travail consuming alcohol. That doesn't make alcohol medicine or treatment, even if the person feels it helped. Under the medical...

Some people deal with their emotional travail consuming alcohol. That doesn't make alcohol medicine or treatment, even if the person feels it helped. Under the medical model a mother is made to believe her emotional state is biological. Having no objective proof, a mom accepts the definition of what she is feeling without further inspection. It is called semantic deception. The feelings are real but correlation and causation are deliberately confused. That is not a scientific approach but a religious approach to science.

I have personally witnessed the horrific aftermath of what the administration of electro shock to my father and brother has rendered. It transformed them both from highly able and responsible persons that previously displayed minor problems confronting issues at hand, into abandoning their confront altogether, blaming many others for their condition (except themselves and the psychiatrists), and left them with a continuous dependency upon psychiatric drugs which results in toxic overload...

It transformed them both from highly able and responsible persons that previously displayed minor problems confronting issues at hand, into abandoning their confront altogether, blaming many others for their condition (except themselves and the psychiatrists), and left them with a continuous dependency upon psychiatric drugs which results in toxic overload from time to time, at which point they become psychotic and dangerous to those close to them.

Electro convulsive therapy has stamped all over it the classic hall marks of a fetish dress up party for perverted medical staff preying on vulnerable people in their "care." This was done only to satisfy the psycho sexual fetish pleasures of the deviant hospital staff who originally conceived this torture.Everybody that has ever continued this practice has the same ends. If we all begin to state this obvious fact that it is purely to satisfy the needs of heinous sexual predators we will...

If we all begin to state this obvious fact that it is purely to satisfy the needs of heinous sexual predators we will bring an end to the practice even from those genuine few who may have the patient welfare in mind. The only benefit is entirely the perverse sexuality of the person zapping the helpless strapped in VICTIM, and Kleenex for their sordid clean up.

Science has the SAME results ALL the time !!! Electroshocks (and psychiatry as a whole) thus ARE NO science and will be stopped !!
