all my animals have been rescued...all my cats were born outside...i was able to save them from having a lonely life of the wild...i had them all fix so they would not have anymore babies and add to the burden of the millions that are put to sleep...i wish I could save them all...
My daughter adopted a little dog 4 years ago and now I have her. lol I always look at shelters first. I have adopted several dogs over the years, all made wonderful companions.
I have adopted 4 tortoises and a 2 Rabbits that deserved to be looked after by somone who cares.
pet store is another word for puppy mill.
So many die ever day waiting to be adopted don't shop Adopt.
adopted my dog Lily from Animals In Distress 2 years ago, never regretted a moment.
I adopt older dogs, those that most people wouldn't. This time I'm giving a retirement home to a retired guide dog. He has been with my a year and has got in the new habit of not working all the time :-)
We adopted three last March...Have always taken in rescues!
I'm proud to say ALL of my pets are adopted, even my horse!
All our dogs have been rescued from being destroyed.
Only reason I have never been to a shelter is because it would break my heart and id end up taking all of them home!

adopt and promote sterilization then there will be less unwanted animals. stop puppy milling.
Ja hul kan dit doen met mense ook.
We get all of our animals from shelters. I don't want to see another animal put down because no one can see the good in them.
all of ours are rescues too....maybe not from a shelter but from homes that couldn't care for them....good for you my friend <3
they ALL have good in them....sometimes it takes a kind and caring person to bring that out <3
Mine also, other than the ones my grand kids drag in, or the ones who come in on their own. I am a stray magnet. So much joy and fun.
All three of our dogs are rescues and I don't know what I'd do without them.
FOUR! Don't forget that Maggie is child we never had :-P
Nigel Franklyn Yep but Mags is really yours on loan to me :)
Let us not forget that I saw you hand feeding her rice when she ate ribs off the counter. Trust me, there are two sets of footprints in her heart: mine and yours.
I rescud my little chihuahua papillion approximately 3 years ago and we are very happy together!
I know right!
I won't adopt from a pet store or a breeder. All of my pets past and present (and many have been handicapped) have come from shelters or rescue groups. Rescues make the best pets!
All of my pets have been rescues from shelters or homes too. Rescue pets are the best!
I have two dogs, one was a rescue dog who was abused and so neglected. She has the most wonderful and placid nature, we adore her to bits and after not trusting a human, she now has total trust in us. We have had her for 6 years. We have a rescue cat who was pregnant and we kept her and her 6 kittens. We are really a very big happy family:-)and we adore all our animals. Give the homeless and abused animals a chance to be happy!
you go girl!!! x
Adoption is love in action.
Lady on the right in my profile picture was adopted at 21 months from a neglect situation and has become my "heart dog" she went on to get her CGC (Pablo also onthe left adopted as a released dog from Guiding Eyes for the Blind) and Lady went further to get her therapy title from Therapy Dogs International and has brought light and happiness to the lives of hundreds of children and adults - she is the light of my life and Pablo's best friend.
My baby girl Mia, a Boxer, was adopted not quite two years ago. We lost her on Friday Jan 6, 2012 after many health struggles. We knew about some of them, cancer, when we adopted her but did in spite of them. We had the money to take care of her. She had been in foster care for two years. Only one person came to see her in all that time. I know it was because she had had cancer. But when we met her she came right over and put her paws on my knee and licked my face. We knew about some of them, cancer, when we adopted her but did in spite of them. We had the money to take care of her. She had been in foster care for two years. Only one person came to see her in all that time. I know it was because she had had cancer. But when we met her she came right over and put her paws on my knee and licked my face. She stayed right by me as I stroked her soft white fur. I didn't want to leave her that day but of course had to finish the adoption process. But four days later she came home with us to her forever home. She was so sweet and loving and even my male Rusty loved her. She fit right into our family with no real adjustment problems. She just had to learn our routine and she did with no problems. We took the dogs for a walk a few minutes after we got home and brought her in the house and showed her around. On the walk she wanted to be right by Rusty and that was how it was from there on. It was as though she had lived here all her life. We couldn't take her on walks the because of DM the last couple of months as she bragged her hind didn't work right. Finally a couple of weeks before Christmas my husband bought a child’s wagon so she could go on walks with us. Now she is at peace and not in pain and can run. I'm sure she ran across the Rainbow Bridge. I miss her sweet face and being able to hug her or get kisses. But I will always have her in my heart and mind. It was the best thing I'd ever done and will do it again someday again I know. She was the best companion and friend to me and I loved her will all my heart.
Every animal we've ever had has been adopted. Some were dumped in the desert, others came from shelters.
God keeps sending me cats who need to be rescued....but, if He ever stops I WILL adopt! >^..^<
