all my animals have been rescued...all my cats were born outside...i was able to save them from having a lonely life of the wild...i had them all fix so they would not have anymore babies and add to the burden of the millions that are put to sleep...i wish I could save them all...
My daughter adopted a little dog 4 years ago and now I have her. lol I always look at shelters first. I have adopted several dogs over the years, all made wonderful companions.
I have adopted 4 tortoises and a 2 Rabbits that deserved to be looked after by somone who cares.
pet store is another word for puppy mill.
So many die ever day waiting to be adopted don't shop Adopt.
adopted my dog Lily from Animals In Distress 2 years ago, never regretted a moment.
I adopt older dogs, those that most people wouldn't. This time I'm giving a retirement home to a retired guide dog. He has been with my a year and has got in the new habit of not working all the time :-)
We adopted three last March...Have always taken in rescues!
I'm proud to say ALL of my pets are adopted, even my horse!
All our dogs have been rescued from being destroyed.
I always adopt from a shelter, great dogs.
what a cutie would take this one in a minute.
re: pledge to adopt my next pet from a shelter instead of a pet store. Well it may be a long while before I adopt another one, but I adopted my cat from a shelter, my puppy as a stray my niece found, and my dog as a stray found by a woman who works at the vet office. Love them all! Can't imagine bothering with pet stores.
Oh Lynn, they usually make the best pets. Dont' know if you saw pictures of Diego (bro/tan chihuahua) on my wall, but we brought him "home for the holidays". Took him back and he was adopted in a few days to a good home with a toy poodle and a weeny dog!
We have rescued three dogs now, especially the older dogs who need to be rescued along with the puppies of course but not left behind...they are so greatful! xxxx
I mean the older dogs are grateful...they act like puppies again...new beginnings are fun for all!
I plan on opening a home cared shelter. I want to rescue abused, neglected or abandoned animals and care for them, interview people and find them loving families to live with. Anyone have any pointers?
Thats Awesome:) But I really have no advice in that area,,,lol
My both chihuahua's are one yr and almost 3 months, both of them are brother's and are rescue from a puppy mil and it was hard to seen them in a bad condition but thanks God both of them are now in good health and they are currently going on there second round of vaccination's that they need :). The both of them sleep on my bed and we spoil them a lot we love them so much and they are part of our family ♥ they complete us and they are the blessing of God! I think? I took this pledge without knowing about this information.
Omg I adopted years ago and my baby died. Sometimes I wanna adopt again but it was so hard. It was like I lost my daughter and I don't think I wanna go through it again :( I'm happy you saved your doggies from being put to sleep.
My girl is adopted thru Calican and when she is ready for a brother or sister, we will adopt from Calican as well:)
Agreed! Best place to adopt!
animals are pepole to.
Nice post Dave !!
all of my pets have been rescues. They are all pure love!
I always do! Our cat Opie came from Best Friends and our other cat Irving came from a shelter in Apple Valley. Best ever!
My husband and I have 4 adopted cats and 2 wonderful adopted dogs. Maggie (in my profile picture) was adopted from a high kill shelter in TN. She is a certified therapy dog, canine ambassador, Reading assistance dog at a local school, my assistant in my dog training classes, and my best friend. Oliver is a hound and is also a TN rescue. He has his CGC and is a retired therapy dog. All our animals bring such joy and I wouldn't trade them for the world.
