I WILL NEVER TEXT AND DRIVE AGAIN EVER!

I have never texted while driving, it is hard enough for me to text while I am sitting in a nice quiet place in a chair without trying it in a car, one can easily get distracted while driving and have had my licence for 51 years and do not want to cause an accident or be involved in one myself. No speeding tickets, just a couple of parking tickets and I want to keep my good record. So I would tell everyone do not text and drive unless you are tired of living but you do not want to kill an innocent person either.

if you have had your license for 51 years then you are likely almost 70. YOU SHOULDN'T BE DRIVING ANYWAY! That also makes the fact that you haven't texted & driven NOT amazing since it has only been available for 10 years or so.

I have a question for you,,,,,,why do you have to be so mean to other people, what have they done to you?

ThatKelly TaylorGuy

1) that wasn't mean

2) no one HAS to be anything, maybe I CHOOSE to be dickish, but that doesn't mean it was caused by anything. Some people are just that way.

3) how I said it doesn't make it less true.

ThatKelly TaylorGuy is being RUDE. You have no idea how well someone can drive when they are in their 60's, 70's, or 80's. Just because someone is older doesn't make them bad drivers. Most young people have accidents because they are not experienced enough and make mistakes older people don't do, like text and drive. Get with it. You will be old someday unless you do something stupid and die young. Who are you going to depend on to haul your ass around because you are "too old" to be driving?

How many old people have to plow down a crowd because "I thought I was hitting the brake" before we start a campaign to stop elderly drivers? FAR too long from now. That's how long.

Pam, Karin, and Michelle, I know you mean well, and whats-his-name didn't say it well, but elderly drivers are often dangerous and very few states (in the USA) have laws that recognize this. My brother was killed as a teenager in an auto-pedestrian accident with a 70-something driver; a few years later my mother and sister had their lives ruined -- Mom lost a leg and my sister lost a kidney -- in another accident with a 70-something driver. The world is a complicated place and sacred cows...

The world is a complicated place and sacred cows are sacred because everyone agrees they're sacred, not because of any intrinsic value in the cow itself. It's sad that we as a society can't take a stand against "incapacitated driving" regardless of the cause. How many "accidents" are the result of the driver dropping a lit cigarette or half a cheeseburger in their laps? Poking themselves in the eye with a mascara wand? And yet somehow attempts to outlaw "driving like an idiot" defy us.
