The tiger is by far my favourite animal...and a symbol of true Indian wildlife! The loss of the Tiger is like a loss of identity to India... not to mention a HUGE loss to the wildlife fraternity of the globe.

If you read the statistics about remaining tigers in world and how some of the countries kills this magnificent animal with government support, the day is very close when it will get a position beside extinct dinosaurs. I have seen a wild leopard which strayed inside IIT Bombay campus-- I was mesmerized by what is called true magnificence of a king and the beauty that evokes only respect for a character called tiger. Last but not the least what would happen to all the stories I read in...

Last but not the least what would happen to all the stories I read in childhood about Baghmama and Sher khan, and the summer days in Madhya Pradesh forest where we eagerly hoped every day to get a sight of the king or hear a real story of a kill in nearby jungles-- For every indian ( for atleast those who are in their middle age) this beautiful animal is so much part of childhood stories and memoirs that it is hard to think that they are no loger around in this world.
