very good move.stop using them now.
There are biodegradable straws. Boyd's Coffee in PDX uses them.
compostable, biodegradble straws sourced from NON GMO vegetable waste, please.
Make then out of bio-degradable hemp or don't use any at all!
How's about we just go back to using paper straws? It is impractical to try to ban straws for a myriad of reasons, not the least of which is health.
gud idea to a certain degree. I dont use straws
Thanks for your comment Timonthy! We think to solve the problem of single-use plastic non-recyclable straws entering landfills and oceans, one way is to support alternatives like paper straws. Thanks!
Why not go Back to the original Paper Straws ? They can be recycled , or burnt as fuels
Same thought occurred to but make them out of recycled paper.
DUDE STRAWS SUCK
Simple: Just use paper straws if you need a straw at all.
or i reuse mine dozens of times and throw them in the dishwasher once a week, don't need to wash them more often, since i'm the only one using them and i don't drink sugary drink, so no ants or other stuff.
gud idea Merdeith
paper? won't it get soggy when you are using it?
CONSIDER every beings when you drink bottled water
You're right, we really need to think about all the single-use plastics we drink from. We drink from a straw for 10 minutes, drink from a plastic water bottle for an hour, but the plastic stays in our environment for many years. Thanks for your comment!
I don't think it should be hard for people (other than disabled or elderly) to give up drinking with a straw at a Restauraunt or bar. I think the trouble will be for all the cold "to go" beverages from places like Starbucks, fast food joints and specialty drink places like Bubble Tea, Booster Juice and Orange Julius etc etc..... It would be much harder to do away with straws from these places, especially if you are on the go, walking or driving somewhere.
