Years ago straws were made out of paper - i think they were lightly coated with wax or something similar. So, they would last as long as it took to finish your drink, and then binned. I'm sure they could be made environmentally friendly again.

Also, how about banning Styrofoam to-go containers!
I pick up straws from the beach across the road from where I live every day - they are everywhere!
Thanks for doing that Kathryn, if you want to collect them and ship them to us we will be making a large plastic straw display to demonstrate the effect of these single-use products
At least use paper straws
Why don't we just ban all plastic straws from being manufactured? Make them out of recycled paper and coat them with food-grade wax. They should work just as well.

Agree with Eddie no packaging unless biodegradeable and with Lynda regarding straws only for those customers who really need them. We all benefit from everything we do to help the environment.
What ever happened to the paper straws. Or what ever happened to be able to drink without the aid of straws. I know the are essential in some medical situations. Not for yr can of coke tho.
If they gave us no straws would we not drink
